Ben Folds – Errant Dog Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I don't think so, Robert Smith: Homeboy. Seems to me that it's written from a woman's perspective about a cheating boyfriend/husband. He's always a jerk and goes out cheating on her, and she knows that people are gossiping about them behind her back. She thinks it'd be easier if she just became a lesbian, but for some reason she keeps taking him back. |
Elton John – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Whenever I heard this song, I'd always just let it fade into the background and not pay any attention to it, wondering why it was so popular. Now tonight, actually listening to the words and the music, I can really appreciate why this song is so well-liked. That being said, I think it's about a guy who's been treated badly by people in the entertainment industry (or what have you), then finally realising that where he is absolutely sucks, and he will always be much happier living the quiet life where he grew up. He's said goodbye to the magical land of Oz, with its golden roads promising more than they deliver. He's seen the wizard who's really just all smoke and mirrors, clicked his heels and gone back to the farm on Kansas. |
Was Not Was – Walk the Dinosaur Lyrics | 17 years ago |
(Bloody hell, why can't you edit your comments?) I just noticed how many anachronisms there are in this song... |
Was Not Was – Walk the Dinosaur Lyrics | 17 years ago |
My class in primary school had to dance to this song. :( |
Coldplay – Speed of Sound Lyrics | 17 years ago |
As nice to listen to as the music of Coldplay is, they've got a very depressing style that you really have to be in the mood for. Seriously Chris Martin, you sleep in the same bed as Gwenyth Paltrow. What do you have to be complaining about?! |
Men at Work – Be Good Johnny Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Classic Men At Work! |
James Blunt – You're Beautiful Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Go to www.weirdal.com for a free download of "Weird Al" Yankovic's parody, titled "You're Pitiful" released today. |
Queen – Radio Ga Ga Lyrics | 18 years ago |
They changed it from Ca Ca because it was easier to say "Ga Ga". Didn't have anything to do with the censors. |
Beck – Broken Drum Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I've heard this could be a tribute to Elliott Smith. Just something to think about... |
Weird Al Yankovic – Genius In France Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Because we should all listen to a guy with the name of "Poo_Spoon." This song isn't exactly a French-bashing song (and it was written before the whole "Freedom Fries" crap) - it's more of a "List every stereotype Al can!" mixed together with "stupid" jokes. And of course it's a tribute to the late, great Frank Zappa. |
Ben Folds Five – Underground Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is from http://info.benfolds.org/UndergroundMeaning "The 'Underground' thing is just an observation that if you don't have any friends and you're kind of a geek, there's something you can do about it. You can just put a nose ring in and you have instant friends. It's its own culture. There are rules to the subculture and alternative cultures, and if you abide by them, they'll let you in. It's a good thing. When the rock scene was so fucking serious-it's not quite that way anymore, but when it was-I just felt it was fun to make the little punk kids dance and smile. It was a fun thing. It's a very unbitter song." - Ben Folds |
Pink Martini – Que Sera Sera Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yes, blahness90, the first ep of DLM. A freaking amazing series, and this song was just so sad and perfect for the scene. |
Beck – Clock Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Friggin awesome. |
Ben Folds – Fred Jones Pt. 2 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Amazing, heartbreaking, real, and shows Ben's talent so clearly. You can't not be a fan after listening to this song. |
Weird Al Yankovic – Couch Potato Lyrics | 18 years ago |
My God, when you see it all typed out, you really see how long the lyrics to this song are! To write a parody that long and tight, just goes to show what a genius Al is. And Eminem sucks, but at least Al got his back in the AlTV Interview!! |
Elliott Smith – King's Crossing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow, that was longer than expected... |
Elliott Smith – King's Crossing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this is about the music industry and all the people he had to put up with... Bear with me, as some of my explanations are pretty lousy since I can't think of the words to describe one of Elliott's most amazing and deep songs. "the judge is on vinyl, decisions are final and nobody gets a reprieve" The proof is in your music, once it's out there you can't take it back "i can't prepare for death any more than i already have" Death of his career "all you can do now is watch the shells the game looks easy that's why it sells" Everyone thinks they can be famous singers/ect, because it looks so easy when you're successful "the method acting that pays my bills keeps the fat man feeding in beverly hills" The life of a successful musician keeps putting meat on the table for his agent, the record company, etc. "and i get my check from the trash treasury because i took my own insides out" Trash treasury = record company that spews out all the crap along with the music that bears his soul. "i've seen the movie and i know what happens" He's seen what's happened to other musicians, so there won't be any suprises for him "it's christmas time and the needles on the tree a skinny santa is bringing something to me his voice is overwhelming but his speech is slurred and i only understand every other word" What everyone else has said - heroin, dealers, etc "read the part and return at five, its a hell of a role if you can keep it alive." It's a great life as a musician if you can keep it going and do everything right. "but i don't care if i fuck up" He's doing what he wants and doesn't care if he fucks it up for himself "i'm going on a date with a rich white lady ain't life great?" Sarcastically poking at the Hollywood lifestyle "this is the place where time reverses dead men talk to all the pretty nurses" instruments shine on a silver tray" Ok, I really have no idea but they're great lines "don't let me get carried away..." Don't let him fall into that cliched life, let him be who he wants to be. |
Elliott Smith – No Name #5 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Amazing song. Treehouse's interpretation is a wordy version of what I think the song's about. |
Queen – The Prophet's Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is one of those rare songs where I don't want to know the meaning of, in fear of it ruining the song. Same goes for Bohemian Rhapsody. Definately my favourite non-Rhapsody Night a the Opera song. |
Queen – Another One Bites The Dust Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Ooh, just noticed: 100th comment! |
Queen – Another One Bites The Dust Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm gonna agree with whoever it was who said it was about a marriage and divorce. But also the song reminds me of the Spaghetti Westerns that Clint Eastwood was in. ...So I'm gonna say: Divorce in the Ol' West...or something. |
Queen – Who Wants To Live Forever Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The line "And we can have forever" is so amazing. The video is so beautiful, too (even the little joke of Brian in with the strings section). ...But yeah, it's pretty clear it's about Highlander, what with the theme of immortality and time slipping away, etc.. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Why Don't You Love Me (Hank Williams cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I don't love like a huggin' and a kissin' and I don't know why... We don't get near or further closer land of country mouths" I swear that's not right, but every lyrics site have those lines printed. Besides, it makes no sense! "Land of country mouths"?! |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song does not deserve 49+ pages of comments. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – What It Is (Nina's Song) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It sounds a lot like an early version of The Brothers Cup; it even has some of the same lines as it. Still a great song though. |
Queen – The Miracle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
*The Hanging Gardens, sorry. |
Queen – The Miracle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hahaha, for the longest time, I thought he said "he Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Captain Kirk and Cain and Abel." Anyway, The MIracle has always struck me as "Look around at what what an amazing planet we live on, and what we've accomplished as a species...Now, if we can achieve world peace, it'd be perfect" |
Men at Work – Down Under Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Whooo, we rock! Yeah...everywhere you go, it seems people love us Aussies and always want to visit or even live here. And who could blame 'em? Gotta love the views in country NSW. ...But I ramble. Rock on Colin Hay! |
Ben Folds – Prison Food Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great song, but I have no idea what it's song is about... I like on the DVD how Ben talks about how the background singer makes it sound like a Pink Floyd song, because that's what I thought when I first heard it, and hearing Ben say it made me feel more sane. |
Ben Folds – Not The Same Lyrics | 19 years ago |
What I get out of this song is that it's telling how the character believed they were a religious healer after their acid trip at Robert's party and they "were not the same after that." Then people caught word of it, came to his door asking him to heal them "with this look in their eyes" until one day "someone died on the waterslide" and he wasn't able to save/revive them - an experience which changed him again. Very awesome song, just like all of Ben's work. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Shallow Be Thy Game Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'll subscribe to the whole anti-Catholic analysis of this song - the "purple sashes" priests wear, the "smoke on which to choke" being the incense Catholics use at church, and the whole guilt/fear thing they're famous for. Despite the fact I disagree, that's a good analysis though Jware. |
