This is obviously just a sweet little romantic song. I have always liked that about Derek -- he sings about all things. Life, love, money, war, poverty...it's so refreshing to listen to a well-rounded Christian artist. So much better than all the redundant "Hallelujah, ya'll!" drivel that surrounds us. |

a gorgeous love song! when i heard it i could have sworn it was written for me. it sums up just how i feel about love and companionship. it's unique in that it's easy, calm and free; this is about a couple with a love that knows no conditions or expiration date...the long haul. so very few people appreciate the real everyday effort behind a successful romance. |

god, this song is one of my favorites. it takes me back...i remember hearing this song when my relationship with who i thought was the love of my life felt unfixable. i had always loved the song before but it filled me with anguish to relate to it. i bawled and bawled and for a long time i wouldn't even play this song because it was so reminiscent of that time.
now that i've been over that for awhile, i still love this song. it's got that raw pain that few songs can contain without sounding angry. the strong duet part at the end still gives me chills, it makes the whole song for me. |

I love love LOVE this song. it starts off so quiet, and then slowly builds into this huge, consuming monstrocity before you even realize it. Powerful. Beautiful. I couldn't survive without Radiohead and their ability to jam outside the box and make you weep without singing about anything in particular, at times. |

This song is about fakers, and how hollow and empty their lives really are. The chorus lists things like that.....that seem sweet but really are of no real value or substance. when the music quiets and michael sings alone "this sugarcane this lemonade, this hurricane i'm not afraid....this lightning storm, this tidal wave" etc, that's the naked truth. Underneath it hurts to be fake and not know who you are outside of what you want others to see. It's too hard to keep up, and it's not real. it's only an imitation of life. can anyone see my point on this? |

This song is about Andy Kauffman's unique view of the world. It conveys how the world saw him, yet the song has the feel of a joke no one is in on, which really fits because that's how he was. Just to correct, this song was not written for the movie Man on the Moon, but the opposite: the movie was named after the song. They did write "The Great Beyond" for the movie, also about A.K. I love it when Michael says "Andy are ya goofing on Elvis, hey baby" classic |

There is something so dark and powerful about this song. the way michael rambles, like he's lost, confused....it somehow commands the heart of the listener. Even though i had no idea what it was about when i first heard it, it put me in a trance, like i felt what he was feeling. Very mysterious how music can do that. |

To me, this song is about doing everything you can for someone, and having the relationship fail anyway. "trying to keep up with you, and i don't know if i can do it.." the other person doesn't care at all, but the singer has deep hopes that he/she does. The song takes place at that moment when the singer realizes that his significant other isn't worth sacrificing himself for. he realizes that he's lost himself completely, lost his religion, all to save something hopeless. it is in my opinion one of the greatest works of art in the music world. |
