La Roux – Bulletproof Lyrics

Zooniy, I thought I'd let you know that you just called someone a 'faggot' and proceeded to tell this person they are arrogant, narrow minded, and need to broaden their horizons. Lol. Maybe you should take some of your own advice, dipshit. |

Amy Winehouse – Back To Black Lyrics

Has anybody seen a Maybellene commercial with a piano tune that sounds very similar to this? I thought it was this song at first but the chord progression is a bit different. |

Who gives a shit what the song is about? I think MIA is the only one who truly knows, if she even does know (see: Boyz). Anyway, awesome song. The sound effects are trippy, they remind me of playing Sonic the Hedgehog on Sega Genesis. |

Bird York – In the Deep Lyrics

Ever since seeing the movie crash, I've been listening to this pretty much non-stop. I think chat619 got it completely right, it's about someone who thinks they know all the answers in life, and when they finally realize that they know nothing, they are bewildered and have a feeling of being lost, or swimming in the deep end of the water. |

Rihanna – Pon De Replay Lyrics
|
Rihanna is Bohemian. Pon is derrived from the infinitive "poner," which means "to put." De simply means "of" or "on." She is basically saying, in slang, "Replay the song" or "Put on the replay." I can't fucking believe I am commenting on this song. |

The Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter Lyrics

The part where the Clayton's voice cracks gives me chills down my spine every time I hear it, it's like she just gave it her all, there is so much feeling and soul in it. Her solo is my favorite part. |

Semisonic – Closing Time Lyrics

I get the feeling that this is a bartender narrating the song, and that he is getting tired of the different personalities of the people he sees there every night, wasting away. "Closing Time, every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end" -- I think this line is him saying that they still have time to change, and stop wasting their lives. |

Rufus Wainwright – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics

|
i believe it is
I remember when I moved in you,
The Holy Dark was moving too
It's supposed to mean I remember when we first had sex, it would be gramatically incorrect to say
I remember when I moved in,
You, the holy dark, was moving too |

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
A tribute to Janis, the queen of blues. R.I.P. |

Harry Chapin – Cats In The Cradle Lyrics

Am I the only one who absolutely can't stand this song? It's pretty much the same song as Cat Stevens' "Father and Son," only Cat Stevens' is a whole lot better and more meaningful. |

Tracy Chapman – Give Me One Reason Lyrics

This is a great song, I'd like to say it's one of my favorite Tracy Chapman songs, but i really can't, since every single one of her songs is as good as the next. Besides Fast Car anyway. |

Janis Joplin – Down On Me Lyrics

I...cannot believe that nobody has posted on this song. It is so amazing. And it's obviously Janis' typical point of view that everyone in the world is against her, and that love is the only thing that makes her feel better. |

Pixies – Where Is My Mind? Lyrics
|
I, because of personal experiences, can relate to this song. It's about a time when you were so fucked up on drugs, that you have absolutely no ego and can't even communicate. Looking back on it, you have the question that is never answered: Where was my mind? Where was I during that experience, because I obviously wasn't THERE. That refers to the refrain. I think the verses are just experiences on drugs. Great song. |

Pink Floyd – The Great Gig in the Sky Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
First of all, the lyrics aren't right. It is as follows:
I am not frightened of dying
Any time will do, I don't mind
Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's not reason for it
We gotta go sometime
Anywho, what the song means: Pink Floyd put this song on the section of Dark Side of the Moon labeled as the "Death and Dying" part. Obviously then, it's associated with death and dying. I think that the way the different pitches of her wails and moans are the different stages of death. Listen to them carefully. |

Buffalo Springfield – For What It's Worth Lyrics

I love this song. Did you know that the intro is supposed to resemble the sound of a police siren? If you think about it, it really kind of does. This is such a great protest song, it makes me envy my parents for living through the 60's and 70's...they really were the prime era. It's a shame 90% of artists today suck, not to be ignorant. |

Jefferson Airplane – White Rabbit Lyrics

Grace Slick said that this song is making a statement to parents that don't know why their kids are doing drugs. When you read them trippy books like "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by some creepy pedifile, then they might think that going to "wonderland" is a good thing. And we all know doing acid and mushrooms brings you to a wonderland. :) |

Tom Petty – Don't Come Around Here No More Lyrics

The video is great.

It's interesting that so many of Tom's songs are supposedly about drugs, yet someone was kicked out of his band because of his use of drugs... |

Tom Petty – I Won't Back Down Lyrics
|
This is such an awesome song. Tom Petty wrote it when he was wrongly accused and brought to court about something or other, and he wrote it, obviously, to state that he was going to win the trial and there was nothing more to it.
"You can stand me up at the gates of hell, but I won't back down." |

Tom Petty – American Girl Lyrics

I don't think this song is about drugs, but I do think it is about a woman killing herself. What I like about it is that it's more of an upbeat song, but it has more of a downer meaning to it, so you can listen to it whenever. One of my favorite Tom Petty songs, and one of my favorite songs of all time. |

Pink Floyd – Brain Damage Lyrics
|
This song is so good, but the part where the guy is laughing is so creepy. When you play this whole album during The Wizard of Oz, when this song comes on, it is playing at the part where Dorothy discovers the Scarecrow (no brain). Very interesting... it's a shame Pink Floyd denies that there is any significance in the synchronization. |

Kill Bills I & II are fucking amazing...and this song is too. Quentin picks the most perfect songs for all of his movies. My favorite was "Girl, you'll be a woman soon" by Neil Diamond, in Pulp Fiction, right before Mia OD's. Brilliant. |
