I think the overall message of the song is that you have to experience things yourself to be able to truly understand what life is all about. |

M. Ward – Requiem Lyrics

I agree, that is a great translation. But I was thinking the song is more about a friend of his that went to war and died because the lyrics make it seem like he's singing about a friend rather than a grandfather. |

Nah man, take away the "Doo-we oo-wee a baba" and you lose all the essence of what makes Dr. Dog who they are. I never heard the beatles sing Doo-we oo-wee a baba anyways? I don't really see what you your trying to say. |

It's all about good times. I love the line "Drop a couple coins and a feather/And watch them float away at the same time." Makes me think that money is no more valuable than the simple things in life. |

My Morning Jacket – One Big Holiday Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
I think the reason that the song doesn't finish itself with the words is because this song about their career as a band and thats the part of their career they are at when they wrote it. Maybe some day they'll finish and take from where they left off.
I'm reading to far into this. |

Wilco – Hell Is Chrome Lyrics
|
I was thinking that Tweedy is relating the devil and hell to a needle for drugs cause nbeedles are the color of chrome .
"When the devil came, he was not red. He was chrome and he said 'Come with me.'"
Meaning he didnt expect the drugs to take over his life like they did because at first they feel so good and welcoming. |

State Radio – The Waitress Lyrics
|
This song, as many of Chad's songs, is a short story centered around a person, in this case, "The Waitress."
I am not quite sure exactly what the song is about but I have a rough idea. So here we go.
It seems as though The Waitress just got a phone call from a pay phone, and she just got some kind of tragic news. This is the part what im not quite sure about, i think it may be that she just found out that her husband was killed in the war, or something tragic like that.
So The Waitress is simply shocked about what she just heard, and is pretty much not even paying attention to her job. Every one else that works their is worried about her, and also scared, so they try to keep away.
Then, she gets up and starts going insane, and has all the other workers backing against the wall. The manager tries to calm her down, while she is fumbles with the drawer. Which i think means that she is reaching for a knife to commit suicide.
I'm not sure if she actually does commit suicide, but i think she might have.
That is my attempt at an inturpretation, I know that i didnt get it exactly right, but its the main idea.
I can use some help for the rest. |

I think that just about every good guy out there can relate to this song. Its about a guy who really digs this girl, he may possibly even love her. All that he wants is for the girl to recognize him and take him, but he is to afraid to show her his feelings with out knowing hers. |

Third Eye Blind – Misfits Lyrics

This song is about Stephan and his friends are the misunderstood people, the "Misfits." Even though other people in society may look down upon them, they are still, and will always be there for each other. They don't need to be concidered "cool," just as long as they have each other, every thing is all good.
I think many people can relate to this song, as well as may other 3eb songs. his lyrics are simply amazing... |

i think i agree with the whole cult theme to this song, because if you listen to the music, espically towards the end, it is very creepy, it almost has like a brainwashing vibe to it. Or at least that what I get from it. |

The Beatles – The Fool on the Hill Lyrics

This is one of my favorite Beatles songs. It is so beautifully put together. How it starts with just the piano and vocals, then the recorder in the song makes is very unique. I just love the way the music builds up.
I think that we can all relate to the Fool on the Hill at one time or another. |

O.A.R. – Dakota Lyrics
|
This song is about the loss of one of the most beloved musicans of any time, John Lennon.
On December 8, 1980 Lennon was shot, just outside of the old Dakota apartment building in New York City.
It is a brilliant song, by one of todays youngest and most fun bands around. The song makes you ask yourself why? and it also makes you wonder what other great things would have come from Lennon if his life wasn't cut short. Its great to see that they are paying homage to one of their heros.

Braddigan – City On A Hill Lyrics
|
i think this song may have some kind of parallel to John Winthrop's City upon a Hill speech in 1630 when the Puritans came to new england and started the Mass. Bay coloney.
In the speech, Winthrop preaches about how he has this vision of a beautiful city upon a hill in the new world, that they must all work together to make the city work. Which relates to the line "So bring all your hammers, your nails, and your tools."
I also believe that the Puritans started their voyage from Calvary. Which explains the line "Haven't you traced the steps back from Calvary?"
Other than that, this is an amazing song, one of my favorites from Braddigan. |

I just recently say these guys in concert with submersed and silvertide (Also two very excellent bands, i recomend you look into them, theyre amazing!!!). They played this song as an encore, on an acoustic 12 string. (Mark Tremonti is amazing.) My friend asked me what the name of this song was, and a lady standing next to us in a special roped off area told us and said it was about Mark Tremonti's mother passing away. I may be wrong but in think that she may have been Mark's girlfriend or something like that... |
