It seems to me like the "dream girl" and the "best friend" are two different girls since he says "I was dreaming of A dream girl...." not "I was dreming of you, my dream girl...." The first verse seems to be talking about love being strong enough to change the world. The next verse/chorus is pretty straight-forward. They get drunk, fall asleep, he dreams of a dream girl, they wake up, then make love. The park verse is odd because it seems like he doesn't know her since he "feels like a creep." Or maybe he feels funny thinking about her naked because she's his "best friend" (although they make love, so he sees her naked then...). The "caught by a wave" part is saying she is always doing something to surprise him- he's caught off guard. It's a catchy little song- fun to hear in concert! |

Actually on Sirius, Dave said he imagined running into an old friend.. not that he actually did. :) But I agree: It's about when someone meant a lot to you at one point in your life, then you lose touch, and when you see them again all those feelings come flooding back as if nothing has changed (at least for you). The nervousness/hesistation in his voice is probably because he's not sure if she still feels the same way. |

there aren't any correct lyrics b/c dave sang it differently each time. the song is about seeing someone but only after they're gone you realize how hot they were. you want to go after them, but by then they are lost in the crowd. you can't get them out of your head, although you probably won't ever see them again. you dream about how good it would have been with that person. it's torture. most of us can relate i think. |
