I don't know if anyone else watched Coldplay on VH1 Storytellers, but Chris Martin mentioned that he didn't think people would be analyzing Coldplay's lyrics in twenty years--he could see them analyzing the chords. He makes it sound like he generally writes simple lyrics, and I'm sure most of us can agree with that. By the way, I adore this song. I agree, of course, that it's about a declaration of love. |

I read the end of the last stanza and the second "chorus" like this: "Even if I die, is there some idea to replace my life, like a father to impress, like a mother's mourning dress?" The father could easily mean God; the people of the world feel that they need to impress God, or perform good deeds. And "a mother's mourning dress" would simply describe the black clothing worn to a funeral by the mother of the deceased. I absolutely adore this song. |

Sorry guys, I just don't like it as much as the first. I think I enjoyed the fact that Stability involved a lot of piano work. And here is Stable Song, which uses a guitar in the piano's place. Had they just taken Stability and shortened it to this length, it would have been the perfect song. The one thing I really enjoy about this version, though, is the full band effect at the end. |
