Benighted like usher: deep, touching. the emotion in danis wail sends chills down my spine. it shows elizabeth mourning the loss of her husband, cursed to die by the witch in "Eyes that witnessed madness A murder of ravens in fugue: A riff that stays in your mind. it's so hard not to sing along when dani sings the "to the depths of her soul they persued etc." bit this part sees elizabeths crimes revealed to the people, and they seek to hunt her down Eyes that witnessed madness: the music and lyric have gone from the mourning in benighted to the desparation in ravens and now despair. Elizabeth has nothing left in life. she commits herself to death with her only request for her beauty to fade unseen. ...at least shes consistant... |

Ah for fuck sake! King nothing666 your an idiot. Lucifer is a title given to satan, who is an angel that fell. Lucifer means morning star. It's not used for satan in the bible, but in other texts such as (i think) paradise lost (which this whole album is based on) it is. And lest you still think satan wasn't an angel cast out of heaven i refer you to the following bible lines: Jude 1:8-10 (implies the devil was a glorius being from above) Rev 12:7-10 (implies directly that the devil was in in heaven and thrown out) Job 1:6 (implys that satan was a heavenly being) Back to the song, It is an account of the life and times of satan. It's about athoritarian political stances. Metallica highlights them as a corporation, to gie it a heartless feeling. and here's metallica taking on the corporation going "against the grain" and not letting the corporation take they're freedom. they know that the corporation isn't gonna give in but that doesn't stop them. Everyone note how the corporation is employing razorback, and threatening hell on those who would step out. Razorback, as far as i know is a monster of the apocalipse. so here's the corporation saying that this is your fate if your not with us. so i see that the corporation is either A: authoritarian governments B: the catholic church (for religious stunts and authority attitudes) C: conformists in general. |

to eerieoompaloompa: the forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest. elizabeth bathory was a monster. but in her crimes she is void of understanding of the princibles of good and evil. does this make her any less a monster? no. but we cannot look on her as an human. she is a beast. but don't children cry when their pet is put down for attacking someone? and not just children. elizabeth was a beast, but a beautiful one, whose life was smothered in trajedy. i nearly cried listening to how she fell to sin in "thirteen autumns and a widow". and in "cruelty brought thee orchids" i was hoping she would repent. listening to the album is like playing the role of the angels in Christopher Marlows "Dr. Faust". i bet those angels cried when faustus faced his damnation, just as dani does when elizabeth faces hers. the song is as beautiful as a trajedy can be. tears for the death, embittered by the life. |

I love the way it starts with a sort of defeated trajic mood, breaks into a viscious hostile declaration of war and somewhere in the middle turns to a cry of victory, a celabration, and a historic account of the victorious race, which then returns to the hostility which reminds us of the fight they endured and the malice still shared for their enemies. This is one of the best structured songs from cradle, along with beauty slept in sodom, and swansong for a raven. |

This isn't the sequal to her ghost in the fog. this is a brand new semi-trajic epic from the cradle. i know i told mrsdanifilth that you cant restrict interpretations in my comments on gilded cunt, but her ghost in the fog is a different story!!! her ghost in the fog sees his lover killed and avenges by killing the murderers an their followers and ends with him in the embrace of her ghost. this is simular as it has a lover lost and an avenger but this closes with the hero about to be burned by the villains along side her corpse, but in the madness he admitted to,couldn't be happier, and is glad that they will remain together. But i will admit that it is very simular to her ghost in the fog. Its a bit like a shakesperean love/trajedy, isn't it? |
