Sammy Hagar – Three Lock Box Lyrics 17 years ago
A three-lock box is a box that someone like a queen would have that would hold something very valuable. It has three locks on it and requires three different keys to be able to break into and steal the valuables away.

As Sammy Hagar explains it, the three locks represent spirituality, physicality, mentality. If you have these three things in balance, no one person or event that effects you can get to your soul because you have these three most valuable things that are key to living an enjoyable life.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dani California Lyrics 18 years ago
DANI CAlifornia...

Look at the capitalized letters. I've heard somebody else say this, but it makes sense that it is partially about IRL Indy Car racer Danica Patrick. She's a rebel in a man's world, she's hot and she drives fast cars. Danica Patrick is most likely just a recent popular name that is a metaphor for all the women he's ever dated.

The song is actually called "In The Street" and was originally done by a band called Big Star.

Elvin Bishop – Fooled Around And Fell In Love Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about the rock star life of having sex with groupies on a tour, then leaving the women behind as they go on to the next stop on the tour in another town. The musicians don't really love them, they just fulfill their deed on the lonely road with a few women and then they're gone.

But, in this case it looks like he happens to fall in love with one of the women. He just can't seem to shake her from his mind.

This song is actually not sung by Elvin Bishop, even though it's his band. He plays the lead guitar while Mickey Thomas of Jefferson Starship sings the vocals.

Diesel – Sausalito Summernight Lyrics 18 years ago
It's a good ol' cruising to California song. However, instead of riding in a hot rod with chicks by their side, this trip isn't a fun one because of the various problems they have with their junker of a car.

Crabby Appleton – Go Back Lyrics 18 years ago
What a terrific lost classic of rock and roll!!!

It's about a woman who is cheating on her boyfriend/husband with another man. When the man is making love to her, he feels that it just doesn't seem right, but he can tell that she is just thinking about the man she is cheating on. So he advises that she go back and rekindle her old relationship because it's the right thing to do, and before she gets caught with another man by her lover.

Arthur Brown – Fire Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is a warning to a girl that had it all, but is now on the wrong path (possibly drug use), and he is warning her that she is on the way to eternal damnation in the firey pits of Hell.

R. Dean Taylor – Indiana Wants Me Lyrics 18 years ago
The song is basically a goodbye letter to his love that was written while the Indiana State Police are surrounding his home calling for him to come out of the house. He is telling her how truly sorry he is that he put her through all this and that she doesn't deserve this kind of treatment, and he is apologizing for everything.

He could either escape and be on the run from the law once again or he will go down in a blaze of glory, dying before he gets another chance to see her in person and make things right again.

Napoleon XIV – They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa! Lyrics 18 years ago
The song is about a man going crazy, and being taken away to a mental hospital.

Due to complaints from many people, this song was actually banned from a lot of radio stations at the time it was released in 1966 because they felt it made fun of people with mental diseases.

Badfinger – Hey Mr. Manager Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is obviously about the band's manager. His name was Stan Polley and he ripped off Badfinger to the point where a pretty popular band that was making hits, selling lots of albums, and playing to sold-out crowds was suddenly bankrupt. But Polley drove fancy cars, had plenty of money, lived in Beverly Hills and was simply stealing away the money that the band had earned.

The band finally figured out what he was up to but it was too late to do anything. So, bassist/singer Tom Evans wrote this song about hoping that the manager would just go away and die. Evans actually wrote this song while in anger while Polley was still their manager, and when they were supposed to record the song in the studio, Evans was scared to death, because the manager was also associated with the mafia too.

Lesson is don't let just anybody take control of you. Badfinger just wanted to play music for a living and make enough money to support their families but they couldn't even do that.

Badfinger – Apple Of My Eye Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about Badfinger giving thanks and bidding farewell to the Beatles Apple Records label to go to Warner Brothers' label. Apple Records were the ones that discovered the band and gave these kids from Wales the chance of a lifetime when they were called The Iveys in the late 1960s, and were one of the very few that believed they could be successful. They gave thanks to them and felt that now it was time to move on to more sunny skies at Warner Brothers.

Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out that way for Badfinger.

The Kinks – Till the End of the Day Lyrics 18 years ago
This is the song that The Kinks used to open up their sets with. The song tells us that we should live our lives to the fullest, and that you're wasting your life if you're not going to make the most out of each day. And to also do what you feel like doing each and every day, however you get your kicks.

The Kinks – Set Me Free Lyrics 18 years ago
He's asking a woman to let go of their love if she can't just love him and only him. He wants to know if she's the one, or not. And if she has feelings for another man, he wants her to just let it go and be set free.

The Kinks – Mr. Pleasant Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song's about a nice, friendly man who enjoys working at his job more than spending time with his family. Everybody seems to be happy with him working hard and making the extra money at the beginning, but they soon realize that there are some negatives to the situation. In short, it just asks the question that what's money worth when your life consists of all work and no play?

Thunderclap Newman – Something In The Air Lyrics 18 years ago
classicrockgirl: Too bad Pete Townshend wasn't in the band. It was a band from England that consisted of Andy Newman (Keyboards), John "Speedy" Keene (Vocals, Drums), and Jimmy McCulloch (Guitars). McCulloch went on to be a guitarist for Paul McCartney's Wings in the mid-70s. McCulloch was only 16 years old when playing the guitar on this song. Pretty impressive!

This song is from the movie "The Magic Christian" starring Peter Sellers, which starred Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr.

Bloodrock – D.O.A. Lyrics 18 years ago
Hands down the creepiest song ever to hit the Top 40. This song is about a person laying dead after being in a plane crash. In the song, you can hear where he starts to slip away and then the ambulance sirens take him to the hospital where he is dead on arrivial.

Henry Gross – Shannon Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about the death of the pet dog that the singer had as a child. It describes the pain that all of us that have had pets have to ultimately deal with when we lose a best friend. Whether it's a human being or an animal, they can mean the world to us. It tears us up when you realize that they won't be coming back, and all you have is the memories.

Buffalo Springfield – For What It's Worth Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is indeed about the Sunset Strip riots that happened in 1966/1967. So, democracys was right. Many people think it's about the Vietnam war, but it really isn't, even though I guess each person can interpret it that way, but that's not what composer Stephen Stills particularly had in mind when he wrote it.

Paul McCartney – Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five Lyrics 18 years ago
Agreed. This song is amazing. I had never heard it until I bought the album a few months ago and it definitely stood out among the rest of the tracks. Even though the lyrics don't really make sense, you don't even realize it because of that hypnotic thumping piano. A wonderful song to close out a terrific album.

Badfinger – Dennis Lyrics 19 years ago
The title of this song was inspired by the comic strip, "Dennis the Menace." The song is about the young son of the singer's girlfriend at the time. The inspiration of the song came from when the singer saw the little boy emptying his mother's purse for loose change so he could get some bubblegum from the machine. So, all in all, I think this song just epitomizes the shenanigans of most little boys, just like Dennis the Menace.

Badfinger – Midnight Caller Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is about a girl, who was a friend of the group, who broke their friendship after deciding to become a midnight call-girl (prostitute). She seems to be a girl only in it for the money, and doesn't care about any of the friends she's leaving behind. She got herself in this situation and now she has nobody to bail her out now.

Badfinger – Baby Blue Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is written about a girl named Dixie whom vocalist Pete Ham met while on a 1971 U.S. Tour stop in Wichita, Kansas. When the group returned home to England, they broke up, but maintained that they would keep in touch with each other. The line "All that time without a word, Didn't know you'd think that I'd forget or I'd regret, The special love I had for you, my baby blue" was written because he hadn't seen her for a few months and he thought Dixie was angry. And the rest is self-explanatory. He loved Dixie!

REO Speedwagon – Back On the Road Again Lyrics 19 years ago
My favorite REO song by far! I think this song is about the groupies he meets during a tour. He falls in love with a woman in that particular town they're playing in, but after the concert is over he has to break the news to her that he's leaving and going to the next stop on the tour. But he says to her "see you next time that I come through your town to play." They both love each other, but they both know that he is a rock star and he has to move on, and he's gotta leave today. On the next stop on the tour, it'll happen again and he has to continuously go through the same thing over and over. That's what I always thought it was.
