The Gaslight Anthem – Dark Places Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Just wanted to make a quick note on the lyrics. In the album booklet the line goes "I changed a change and kept on saying." To me, it sounds like the sung words are "I changed and changed." so I left that as-is. |
The Gaslight Anthem – Rollin' and Tumblin' Lyrics | 9 years ago |
For some reason, the lyrics above have been changed and are not what I originally submitted. I tried to edit them again, but it doesn't look like they're changing. Re-posting here. I don't think I'm going out anymore. You better find some other body to comfort. When I was trembling baby, you was a diamond. But you ain't a diamond no more. So what you wanna say is my head is a hurricane? Well, let me sleep on that, uh huh, alright. You say I'm hopelessly devoted to misery, well, I don't wanna be so devoted no more. Ah, yeah. And all of my friends wanna get into heaven. And all I keep thinking is I wish you were here. I heard that they been calling me The Great Depression. Rolling and tumbling, breaking my own heart again. Shimmy, shimmy shake, baby, right in my bloodstream. I don't know what it was that got in my room. My ticker tape heart broke and everything shook in here. But I heard it could be worse. So what you wanna say is my head is a weather-vane spinning with the wind chime. Right. Maybe I was born on the fourth of July, exploding like a firework. Ah, yeah. And all of my friends wanna get into heaven. And all I keep thinking is I wish you were here. I heard that they been calling me The Great Depression. Rolling and tumbling. (Rolling and tumbling.) And all of my friends wanna get into heaven. And all I keep thinking is I wish you were here. I heard that they been calling me The Great Depression. Rolling and tumbling. So should I take everything? All your temporary medicines? Should I take your reds, your blues, and your cocaine? Should I take something to try on the weekend? Should I take anything? Or did you mean everything? And when I hit the wall, wrecked from it all, you'll put flowers down on the cold ground. And cry me a river. And assure me I'm crazy. While you question the answers, and then you lean on your best friends. Until you find better weather. And you take a vacation. I hope you got all my letters. Signed The Great Depression, baby, ...Rolling and tumbling. |
The Gaslight Anthem – Get Hurt Lyrics | 9 years ago |
It's, "Have you come here to get her?" Not, "Have you come here to get hurt?" |
The Horrible Crowes – Ladykiller Lyrics | 10 years ago |
It's willow.... I own the album. |
The Gaslight Anthem – Halloween Lyrics | 11 years ago |
No comments? Really? This song is effing incredible. |
The Gaslight Anthem – Mae Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I'm surprised there aren't any comments on this one yet. At least for me, personally, this is the one track that really stands out as my clear favorite (which, when it comes to all the other Gaslight albums, picking a favorite song off one is impossible) I'm sure more tracks will grow on me, but this one definitely is my favorite as far as overall writing/lyric and sound. Would have fit right in with The Horrible Crowes album as well. |
The Horrible Crowes – Crush Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The chorus reminds me of Bruce Springsteen's "Crush On You" |
The Gaslight Anthem – Blue Jeans and White T-Shirts Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song is definitely inspired by Bruce Springsteen's 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) |
The Horrible Crowes – Cherry Blossoms Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I heard Brian talk a little about this track (it's been awhile, so I may not have the word-for-word interpretation) but from what I remember he said that it was just about that feeling you have when a relationship ends, and you sorta go through the seasons. When you're happy in the relationship, you have the summer. The relationship dies in the fall, and you're left alone with the dead of winter to deal with it, but you know that once spring comes again everything will be okay. |
The Horrible Crowes – Black Betty & The Moon Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Yeah, my apologies - I tried to edit this and include the full lyrics when the album was out, but it looks as though it didn't work. Here's for anyone who needs them: My love, my love, you're the sting of the scorpion Consider, now, the angels, a little lower than you And they twist and they turn, and they hold their breath 'til it's blue And they can't turn away like I can, when you're lookin' like you do Looky Black Betty, what they're tying to you You did the very thing, baby, that I asked you not to do And now you got yourself caught in the silk spiderweb I hope the money fills the holes, can see the roof is caving in My heart, my heart, you're the moon and her shining light Darkness and void of form, like you were keeping me alive And I've been dreaming of poisonings from the venom of my enemies Clever as the viper, dear, but gentle as a stampede of stones Looky Black Betty, what they're tying to you You did the very thing, baby, that I asked you not to do Now you got yourself caught in the silk spiderweb I hope the money fills the holes, can see the roof is caving in And they want you to doubt every trust that you've known And they wanna find the holes in the armor exposed And they come on whispering, If you just do this for me... And turn and show their teeth just before they're sinking in And better than described and deeper the decent I never thought we'd have to learn to doubt our friends And better than described, so much deeper the decent I never thought we'd have to learn to doubt our friends Looky Black Betty, what they're tying to you You did the very thing, baby, that I asked you not to do Now you got yourself caught in the silk spiderweb I hope the money fills the holes, can see the roof is caving in Looky Black Betty, what they're tying to you You did the very thing, baby, that I asked you not to do Now you got yourself caught in the silk spiderweb I hope the money fills the holes in the place I used to stand |
The Horrible Crowes – Go Tell Everybody Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"I was a man of great sympathy, when I did love you, my baby. Oh but tonight all that sympathy is gone." Brian Motherfuckin' Fallon |
The Gaslight Anthem – Bring It On Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Please do yourselves a favor and take a minute or two to listen to the acoustic version Brian recently did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fSGCR3eqDQ It cuts me to ribbons. <3 |
The Gaslight Anthem – American Slang Lyrics | 13 years ago |
YES! That is my favorite version of the song. Brian Fallon owns me. |
The Gaslight Anthem – She Loves You Lyrics | 13 years ago |
You really haven't heard this song until you've heard this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwYEC-wNL7s This song destroys me. The end. <3 |
The Mudbloods – Since March, Since September, And Still Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song is absolutely so beautiful. As far as what the song is about... I'm not 100% sure, but to me, it's about his decision to stop writing Wizard Rock. I could be way off base, maybe it's meant to be taken at face-value, but that's what I get from the lyrics when I hear them. Either way, it's a beautiful song. |
Tommy James And The Shondells – Crimson and Clover Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I agree. I saw a video on YouTube recently that inspired me to think this way... lol. |
Tommy James And The Shondells – Crimson and Clover Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I see something in all of the interpretations, from love, to all the sexual interpretations, to weed, to drugs to the artists favorite colors. Personally, I agree with the above. To me personally, I like the thought of it being about a beautiful girl with red hair and green eyes. :) |
Devil Doll – If I Died In Your Arms Lyrics | 14 years ago |
LOVE the feel of this one. |
Agents of Oblivion – Phantom Green Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Amazing song. |
Acid Bath – Graveflower Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I just wanted to come back and say that it's been 5 years since I first posted on this and 10 years since I first heard about Acid Bath (I'm old) and these songs are still better than anything else out there. Amazingness. I still rock this shit constantly. <3 |
Devil Doll – Bourbon in Your Eyes Lyrics | 14 years ago |
No comments? In my humble opinion this is my favorite of all her songs. Super seductive. |
Zombie Ghost Train – Graveyard Queen Lyrics | 16 years ago |
My boyfriend says this is "my" song. haha. Love ZGT!!!! ♥ |
Nekromantix – Horny In A Hearse Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Shouldn't "My Heels" be "High Heels" ? Just a thought. |
Old Crow Medicine Show – We're All in This Together Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love the lyrics and feel of this song. The vocal talent is just incredible. Truely one of the best songs by OCMS. |
Tiger Army – Ghosts of Memory Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is probably one of my favorites off the new album. |
Tiger Army – Where The Moss Slowly Grows Lyrics | 17 years ago |
There are some errors in this song. I can't figure out what they're saying in the 2nd verse, 3rd line.. but "oval edge" doesn't fit. Also, "Future comes on loudly" should be "The future called so loudly" Anyways, this is probably my favorite off the new album. :) This is your one chance, embrace the day and make something of it. Don't regret and linger on lost friendships, relationships, etc. |
Tiger Army – As The Cold Rain Falls Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hopefully the lyrics are all accurate here. When I first heard this song I did a double-take. It's like a cross between New Order, The Cure, VNV Nation, and The Postal Service.. haha. I know Nick 13 is heavily influenced by 80's new wave and synthpop - so I understand why this song was made, it just surprised me. It doesn't sound like traditional Tiger Army at all... ...but I quite like it and I think all the Tiger Army, MOZ fans will really embrace this one. |
Tiger Army – Forever Fades Away Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Is it.. "You will see forevers there" ? That's what I hear, and what seems like it would make sense based on the other lyrics in the verse. It sounds like it could be "forevers stare" too. I'm curious to see what the older Tiger Army fans think about this track? No feedback comments yet? This is a better example of the feel of the rest of the album, as opposed to Afterworld, which sounds more like the Tiger Army the majority has been familiar with. :) This one took some time, but it's grown on me. |
Tiger Army – Afterworld Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Afterworld is a great track. For sure one of the best on the album, in my opinion. Don't expect the rest of the songs on the album to sound like it though... it's a lot different from what I was expecting from Tiger Army. Took a few listens to get used to, but there are some great tracks, and I'm looking forward to buying the CD and vinyl on the 5th and also seeing them at several Warped dates! |
Jerry Lee Lewis – What's Made Milwaukee Famous (Has Made a Loser Out of Me) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
SHLITZ is the beer that's made Milwaukee famous. :) This is one of my favorite Jerry Lee Lewis songs. |
Black Star – Definition Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This isn't crap. This is one of my favorite songs by Black Star. |
Dion and the Belmonts – The Wanderer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I fucking love this song. It wouldn't be as good if someone did a remake of it. :) |
Tiger Army – Never Die Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I wanted to add another comment about this song, because I think it every time I hear it. To me, every time I hear this song - I always get the impression that it is kinda Nick's song about Tiger Army. Like I still think the song was inspired by Lovecraft and all that. But when I listen to it, it's like Nick is saying that Tiger Army is his way of making his mark on society. Think about it - Tiger Army has basicly always been Nick 13. He didn't have any band members when he first was signed to Hellcat. He writes all the music and the lyrics.. (I know the other members did help some) but deep down it's really Nick's band. It's always just him, but he continues to keep Tiger Army alive... even when he looses members. I think this song is just saying that as long as he can keep Tiger Army alive, he will always feel like he has some immortallity. |
Tiger Army – Through The Darkness Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"xcupids victimx: I wish he was singing it to me~ :)" I think my first wish came true.... |
VNV Nation – Endless Skies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree with faye. I completely related to this song. On an unfortunate side note.. this song, and "Colours of Rain" (the instrumental) were the only songs off the new CD that I was really taken with on my first listen. I just picked up the CD, so maybe it will grow on me. A few of the other tracks were okay.. but in general I was really surprized with this CD. Don't get me wrong, I love VNV Nation - but after the past 3 CDs being amazing, I've come to expect a certian greatness, and I was definatly dissapointed with this new CD. |
Tiger Army – Wander Alone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Qurra - it seems to me that the song is talking about his lack of an ability to have a solid relationship with someone. The first part of the song he's talking about how he has these feelings of pain and anger inside of him, and he just forces them down until it explodes - and it's hard for whomever he has a relationship with to relate... therefore he "wanders alone". I don't know if Nick wrote this song about himself directly.. but one of the great parts of this song is that it's something that most people can relate to. |
Tiger Army – True Romance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
AFI didn't really start out "poppy" but if you consider them pop punk, then you might as well consider Tiger Army "pop psychobilly" ... I don't think either band is crappy in the slightest, but I definatly prefer Tiger Army, and I didn't get into Tiger Army because of AFI like most people. However, "dudeyrsocrazy" is pretty correct when he says they are brother bands, because Davey and Nick have been best friends since highschool. |
Tiger Army – Swift Silent Deadly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Demonomania... I couldn't agree with you more! I think the voice effect really holds this song back. I think Nick does have a tiger persona, and that's partly the reason for the name of the band. ;) |
Aqualung – Strange And Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i can think of someone i would play this song for right now :) i haven't seen the commercial they use this in that everyone's talking about, or the wicker park movie... but i'm curious to see the movie now. |
Aqualung – Easier to Lie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
~amazing~ |
The Game – How We Do Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think there are a couple of words in the posted lyrics that aren't quite correct. "Lil Pro, so look like I'm ridin' on blades" should be : "Low Pro., so low they're like i'm ridin' on blades" (Low Pro = low profile tires.. so like, his tires are so thin that it looks like his rims are touchin the street) -fucking hot. The first verse that 50 sings is the best part of the song. "They call me new money, say I have no class I'm from the bottom, I came up too fast The hell if I care, I'm just here to get my cash Boozie ass bitches, you can kiss my ass" - fucking right! - anyone who talks shit on 50 can fuck off. |
50 Cent – Disco Inferno Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the video for this song looks like it's going to be really hot. lot's of big asses and tits everywhere |
50 Cent – Candy Shop Lyrics | 19 years ago |
damn... i'm liking this new one by 50 mm. i'd lick his lollipop... teehe |
Premonitions Of War – black den Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song is also fucking AMAZING!!!!! <3 POW |
Tiger Army – Valley Of Dreams Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love the lyrics of this song. This song seems to be about vampires, or a vampire. "Tiger, Tiger burning bright" is a line from a Willian Blake poem, "The Tiger" - which isn't really about vampires, but it is just as good. |
Tiger Army – Towards Destiny Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think what Aerofire had was really close, I did the same thing and I got what I believe to be a closer version. Tiger Army never die Tiger Army never die Tiger Army never die As the last tiger dies The ghost tigers rise (Heed) the call of the werecat (As we did) in Transylvania We fight on the side of fate Towards destiny We ascend in it forever Hail Satan |
Tiger Army – Last Night Lyrics | 19 years ago |
..it's about being a vampire.. |
Frou Frou – Let Go Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i listened to this song for awhile, and i believe it's about living life to it's fullest.. it seems like it's talking about people who are too afraid of being hurt, and people who are too consumed in things like the internet and television to actually be living life.. it's just saying... jump in, life is beautiful with all it's ups and downs - and when you're gone everything you had won't matter anymore - so forget about it and expierience the beauty before it's too late and you miss out |
Tha Dogg Pound – Work Dat Pussy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is class |
Jay-Z – I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
normally i'm not a huge fan of Jay-Z but i LOVE this track. anything featuring Pharrell is golden.. the meaning is pretty obvious, but i like it, it just makes you want to dance dirty. :) |
