It seems like this song is about how Fall Out Boy id sick of people trying to put them in a category or be just like them. They're tired of beig labled, and are sick of being "those messed up cute kids." It's almost like they are frustrated-- that's why the scream is so cool!
I'm not normally a big fan of scream-o, but FOB uses it so well in this song! It's like, they get so torked up and angry they just let it out in the most measured, even prima scream I've heard in a while. Awesome! Then there's an interlude, like they're catching a breath and regrouping, then it's right back into it. AWESOME! |

This song covers so many angles. Racial tolerance. Religious tolerance.
It seems mostly about a person who wants to start taking care of others because he realizes that we're all the same, but people just won't allow it to happen because they find it hard to belive anyone would be looking out for them.
I really like the idea that you don't have to be lonely if you don't want to be, because there is someone out there who will cry with you, or help you, because they know we're all stuck on this crazy, mixed-up planet and unless there is a major advance in rocket science, we're stuck here together for a while, so we might as well get along and make each other happy. |

In my personal opinion, this song is about God, and how you can always tell He(the sunshine) is there by the suffering(shadow) He helps you through. And even though sometimes that shadow makes it feel like He is gone forever, it always passes. |

I wouldn't know about the make-out part, but it is a fantastic song. I can listen to it over and over for hours until I fall asleep. The semi-acousticness is great, and the chorus has worked it's way into being my favorite. The idea that someone's smile can make you believe in something enchants me. |
