this was the first say anything song i heard. so i feel obligated to add my take on it. it sounds like a 'hero saves princess' fairytale, it's brilliant and can applied to so many situations: he's goin all out to save her from the liars (fountain..), who are using her (they chose you.. they hunt you..), and protecting her (the beast... whirlwind..) and keeping her sheltered from other viewpoints (floating in the dark.. under their shell..) its not her shell, 'they' have created it. and he needs to remind her who she is underneath it. the biblical references (blessed.. walk on the water.. hell..) make me think that maybe she is being sheltered by a religion. max probably had a more specific meaning in mind when he wrote this, and for me the meaning will change as my life changes, maybe ill come back here in a few years, by then say anything will be well-known. mark my words. |
