The Cure – Just Say Yes Lyrics 19 years ago
This is perhaps the only Cure song that I can't really stand to hear for very long. It's not that it is a terrible song per se, but after Disintegration and Pornography--I mean c'mon. I honestly wish this song weren't on my Greatest Hits disc and DVD. Nuff said...

The Cure – Mr. Pink Eyes Lyrics 19 years ago
I never noticed it before, but perhaps this is the one and only Cure gospel song. Just makes me think of those churches where everyone is up in the air and stomping their feet. The lyrics don't seem gospel-like, but does anyone else agree?

The Cure – The Exploding Boy Lyrics 19 years ago
Supposedly, Robert and co. first recorded this song after they officially rejoined after the near-collapse after recording Pornography. The title is supposed to about the elation that Rob felt during this time of rediscovery of the band. I love the upbeat strumming--always puts me in a good mood when I hear it.

The Cure – Dredd Song Lyrics 19 years ago
I think I heard (or read) somewhere that Robert only did this song because he was once a fan of the Judge Dredd comics.

The Cure – Club America Lyrics 19 years ago
Ditto, I've also heard that Robert deliberately sang this song in a different voice to reflect that sort of tone. It's a really different type of Cure song from their others and that shows.

The Cure – Catch Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a really sweet song...I can't believe that jessepence up there thinks it's bad. Oh, by the way, some of the lyrics are wrong. "And never even caught her name" is actually "and never even called her name."

The Cure – A Strange Day Lyrics 19 years ago
Awesome song! I sing it in the car, on the way to work when my radio is broken even though it's so bleak.

Radiohead – Where I End and You Begin. (The Sky Is Falling In.) Lyrics 19 years ago
This song seems to me more like about mental disorders... namely schizophrenia, known as the "splitting of the mind." Patients who are schizophrenic (esp. the paranoid type) are prone to losing track of where their bodies start and end. Some even claim that they thought that their body extended into that of another...Hmm, 'shrooms seems like a pretty lame suggestion. Why don't we try applying a little bit of logic instead?

The Cure – Stop Dead Lyrics 19 years ago
Not entirely sure about the meaning behind this song, but I know that it's one one Simon Gallup's favorites (because of the bass-line). The song was going to make it on the album right up to the last minute, but never did make it much to Simon's dissappointment. (bummer...)

The Cure – Snow in Summer Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is a B side of "Just Like Heaven" and I think that the two songs go hand in hand. Robert Smith was never fully satisfied with this song (he said the lyrics didn't meld just right), but for a B side, it really rocks. "Just Like Heaven" was kind of about a dream girl that had vanished (or died)--perhaps this one is about that similar love when it was still around and alive.

The Cure – This Is a Lie Lyrics 19 years ago
This is one of those overlooked Cure songs that never did get the attention it deserved. I think the line "why each of us must lose everyone else in the world" is very powerful. I mean, think of it, even if we find someone special in this life, there is an entire world of others that we miss out on. (Not that we could have everyone in the first place.) Maybe it's about the confusion surrounding life itself--how we ultimately choose one life and one path. The other paths are lost to us and in the end, nothing makes sense.

The Cure – Three Imaginary Boys Lyrics 19 years ago
I personally think that the title "Three Imaginary Boys" may have some connection to the three members of the Cure in the early days. This song seems very haunting, almost like someone is following the character in it--perhaps a ghost. Whatever it's about is very chilling.

The Cure – So What Lyrics 19 years ago
Thank God for lyrics! Before finally reading the lyrics for this one online, I truly thought that Robert was saying "chicken postal order" instead of "cheque and postal order number..." (laughs) Yeah, a true nonsense song if there ever was one, but c'mon, you have to like it.

The Cure – Prayers for Rain Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song could possibly be tied in with "The Same Deep Water as You." Note that right after this track there is the sound of thunder and rain. Maybe it's about anticipation for something (like a loved one). The line "I suffocate/I breathe in dirt" could be describing how without rain the ground gets dry and things wither--the rain possibly being an allusion to love. The same meaning above might be applied however, to a starving or longing for something important that has been away. I always think about a Native American rain dance when I hear this song, although I don't think it has much to do with it.

The Cure – Pictures of You Lyrics 19 years ago
I don't know about some of you, but I think it's great that this song made it on an HP commercial. I'm sad, in fact, that they've already replaced it with another, less inspiring song. I think it's a shame that some people can't be glad when some of their favorite bands get a small spot on tv--it's not like it was a MacDonalds commercia or somethingl! (If anyone looks back they might remember "Friday I'm in Love" being on a Burger King commercial--so what's to be expected? That was one of their Top-40s songs and one that really didn't represent the true spirit of the band).

The Cure – One Hundred Years Lyrics 19 years ago
The opening lyrics are an opener to the whole Pornography concept: "It doesn't matter if we all die." Now that's some pretty deep lyrics to start an album off with!

The Cure – Let's Go to Bed Lyrics 19 years ago
Who played the bass line on this song if the band was just two members: Lol and Robert? I know they must have recorded it and looped it. Or could it possibly be a synth? Does anyone know? The video for this song rocks, but doesn't offer any clues...

The Cure – M Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm wondering how this song could be about his wife and have lyrics like "You'll fall in love with someone else agian tonight." Could it have before they were serious maybe?

The Cure – Grinding Halt Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is like things suddenly coming to an end, almost like the end of the world maybe. (No light/No people/No speak). Who knows?

The Cure – Fire in Cairo Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is supposed to be an imaginary Egyptian dream song. The whole "Boys Don't Cry" album seems to have the same middle-eastern feel.

The Cure – Fascination Street Lyrics 19 years ago
The New Orleans thing makes sense, but I don't know that it has anything to do with Robert putting on makeup and hookers and stuff. New Orleans is supposed to be a city of fascination, right?

The Cure – Close to Me Lyrics 19 years ago
Gosh! Some people have such dirty minds! Anyway, this song (for those of you who obviously haven't done their research) is about the little pangs and jitters of first love. I think it's more about the anticipation of maybe an encounter or kiss, not sex in general.

submissions
The Cure – Boys Don't Cry Lyrics 19 years ago
This song really explains itself--a "kiss and make up" sort of scenario. Robert Smith said that it was an attempt at a 60's pop song recreation.

The Cure – A Strange Day Lyrics 19 years ago
A Strange Day--what else could it be but the end of the world? Bleak subject, but beautiful song. Luv it!

The Cure – A Short Term Effect Lyrics 19 years ago
This song, like much of the Pornography album, is, I think, about the decay of things. (The bird falling to the ground/"an atmosphere that rots with time") Perhaps the title "A Short Term Effect" relates to the perishability of this earth and the passing away of all that we know.

The Cure – A Man Inside My Mouth Lyrics 19 years ago
Rob. Smith remarked that, "I liked that somg because it caused some controversy at the time. I played up to the weirder sexual aspects of the lyric...I realised it was going to be contentious, and I had fun with it!"

The Cure – A Few Hours After This... Lyrics 19 years ago
I got my info from the "Join the Dots" boxed set.
Smith regards this one as "a slightly deranged experiment, an attempt to do something orchestral and quirky that didn't quite come together...it ended up as either this or Six Different Ways for The Head on The Door album, and Six Different Ways worked out better."

The Cure – A Chain of Flowers Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm not exactly sure about the song meaning, but check out the "Join the Dots" boxed set. Here's what Robert says about it,
"Towards the end at Miraval, I was getting a bit stuck for lyrics, trying to finish 23 songs in a month, so I said to the others 'Please give me some words.' Simon slipped some under my door, and they included the line 'All I want is summer.' That was the catalyst for me to write A Chain of Flowers. It's essentially a song about the awful fear of losing someone you love."

The Cure – 10:15 Saturday Night Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is pretty self-explanatory, especially for a Cure song. Waiting for the phone, water dripping. -drip- -drip- -drip- -drip-
