The Dresden Dolls – Good Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Also, the part "he wants to go to heaven with a crown upon his head" implies that maybe her lover thought he was basically *the shit*, and after they split he figured he would be the one coming out on top. But she's saying that she has proved him wrong on that one. |

The full ending part (I think it's a jumprope song) is: Now the war is over Mussolini's dead He wants to go to heaven with a crown upon his head The lord says no He has to stay below All dressed up & No where to go I think if I tried to connect this with the song I'd be going a little too far. But I'm going to anyway. Mussolini was a facsist dictator of Italy during world war II. He led Italy into the war & a nazi government until he was assasinated. The lines in this song that urge to make this connection are: "i want all the details of the pain and misery that you are inflicting on the others" Possibly by putting this at the end of the song she's comparing her old lover to a horrible tyrant, causing pain & misery to so many? It's extreme, but I love it. |
The Dresden Dolls – Gravity Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I hear you ups, but am I the only one who thinks of giving a blow job when she sings, "down at work i'm getting too familiar with the floor trading in my talents by the mouthful" ? Heh... |
The Dresden Dolls – Bank of Boston Beauty Queen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this song. Her voice is so rich & flexable. I think it's about her being caught in the past, wishing she would 'grow the fuck up' but she just can't. still expecting to find true love among the sakteboarders hanging out in back of the bank in my home ^Unrelated, but this line completely epitomizes nearly everyone in my high school. It's funny. The line "still convinced taht they'll pick me up for all the sins i committed in the back of the banged-up pickup truck" almost tells us that she regrets some of the things she did while she was growing up. Delightful song. |
Ani DiFranco – Make Me Stay Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think she wants a real, true, love. She's tired of "the soft focus & fantasy" & would like something a bit more demanding from a romance. If not that I think she's singing about being frusterated with a man, wanting him to challenge her or create some excitement in their love. |
Jewel – Sometimes It Be That Way Lyrics | 19 years ago |
That's interesting, I've never heard that version! I like this song because it reflects on a relationship gone wrong, and sometimes when you break up, you can't get over all the things the other person fucked up for you. But Jewel's just like, "Whatever, I'm sorrrrry." |
Depeche Mode – Dangerous Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Love the song. I think it's about being in an abusive relationship, but almost enjoying it. The person just keeps bringing you down, but it's like a breath of fresh air. Even knowing that it's going to hurt you, you go on with it. |
Depeche Mode – Master And Servant Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Such a sexy song. It's about S&M. Kind of obvious, though. |
Snow Patrol – Half the Fun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I can think of two meanings for the song. Meaning #1: This guy is having sex with a girl, and he just can't 'last'. They keep trying, and they're both getting quite frusterated. Meaning #2: The second part to these lyrics make me think that his lover is mentally ill, and this is him telling her to get help. I <3 this song, whatever it means. :) |
