The Beatles – Within You Without You Lyrics 19 years ago
I love this song. Its probably my favourite of Sgt Peppers and one of my favourite Beatles songs, though its always kind of hard to say things like that about a band that has so many great songs that Im attached to like the good memories of my childhood.

Anyway, I love George Harrison's songs because I think they give you an insight into the kind of guy he was. Quiet, deep, meditative and contemplative. Im certain he wrote it when he was on drugs, but I dont think it necessarily has to be interpretted as being about drugs. You can achieve peace of mind without LSD.

The Beatles – For No One Lyrics 19 years ago
This was the first song off Revolver that I got obsessed with. I came to get obsessed with nearly every song on the album in time, but this one grabbed me instantly. Its amazing how much emotion can be contained in a two minute song.

I think those who says its a metaphor for sex are on the right track. The Beatles were clever guys.

The Beatles – Don't Pass Me By Lyrics 19 years ago
This is one of my favourite songs from the White Album. It doesnt exactly stand head and shoulders with songs like Happiness is a Warm Gun, Helter Skelter, While My Guitar Gently Weeps etc, but its still a really solid song. If any band but the Beatles made this itd be their career definer :-p

The Beatles – And Your Bird Can Sing Lyrics 19 years ago
I always thought this song was about the same kind of thing as Bob Dylans - Queen Jane Approximately, in that its about a girl who holds herself really high and the speaker of the song is an admirer of hers.

The Beatles – Savoy Truffle Lyrics 19 years ago
LMAO, I didnt know it was about Eric Clapton's love for chocolate. Thats hilarious. This song always gives me the munchies when I listen to it stoned.

Xiu Xiu – Ian Curtis Wishlist Lyrics 19 years ago
Ian Curtis is the frontman of Joy Division - one of Jamie's favourite bands.

Xiu Xiu – Support Our Troops OH! (Black Angels OH!) Lyrics 19 years ago
Jamie Stewart mentioned in an interview I saw that Fabulous Muscles was the first album his family members listened to and they were quiet upset about a few of the songs. Id say this is one of the songs that they didnt like. Probably about a relative.

I think its more a personal attack before an anti-war song.

Xiu Xiu – Jennifer Lopez Lyrics 19 years ago
The lyrics themselves are pretty self explanatory, but Im not too sure how the title fits. Maybe the speaker of the song is singing to Jennifer Lopez, who is basically an image of the screen - it heightens the sense of alienation you empathetically feel for the speaker.

One of my favourite Xiu Xiu songs.

Led Zeppelin – Celebration Day Lyrics 19 years ago
Ive never really though about the lyrics, but they DO have a very dark tone to them.

One of my favourite Zep songs - its really overlooked.

Led Zeppelin – Communication Breakdown Lyrics 19 years ago
Simple 1960's pop. A lame song. Plus the lyrics are stolen from Eddie Cochrane's "Nervous Breakdown". Avoid.

Led Zeppelin – All My Love Lyrics 19 years ago
One of Zeppelin's only touching songs. Must have been written mostly by Jones since Robert Plant could only ever write C grade crap.

These guys are fucking morons, but like George W Bush they give me something to laugh at.

Led Zeppelin – Stand by Me (Ben E. King cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
LOL, Id love to get my hands on this. Its probably sitting in some can rotting, stashed away in a basement among with all their other unreleased stuff.

Led Zeppelin – Custard Pie Lyrics 19 years ago
Lyrics are ripped off from Bukka White's "Shake 'em on Down" (Zep ripped the music from this same song for "Hats off to Roy Harper").

I still like this song. Its a great way to start of Physical Graffiti and its always good fun.

I once listened to this song when I was on a lot of drugs and it scared the crap out of me.

Led Zeppelin – Nobody's Fault but Mine Lyrics 19 years ago
I didnt know that this was yet another uncredited Zeppelin cover. Either way, this song is the best of Presence and one of my favourite Zep songs. The live version on the DVD in 1979 is an absolute killer.

Hard not to be seduced by those crunching riffs.

Oh yea, as to the "satanic messages", if you play it backwards it simulataneously predicts events in the future such as September 11, is a lengthy prayer to the lord almighty and also reveals that Jimmy Page was on a lot of drugs when he was recording this album.

Led Zeppelin – Sick Again Lyrics 19 years ago
Plunketts is right if he means that the members of Zeppelin were sex animals. Apparently they would exploit their groupies to the absolute max. Groupies have told of how Jimmy Page would often make them stick octupi in their vaginas.

Anyway, to the song, this is my favourite Zeppelin song at the moment. Its one of the few Zeppelin songs with real lyrical depth, though it might not be apparent when you read the lyrics off the page like this.

To me, the song is either about the plight of groupies in general or it is about one in particular.

Led Zeppelin – Down by the Seaside Lyrics 19 years ago
This would hav to be the worst song on Physical Graffiti. Its a mess of a song IMO. Corny lyircs, boring chord progression, overly long. I can see why it didnt make "Houses of the Holy".

Led Zeppelin – Bron-Yr-Aur Lyrics 19 years ago
I like this song. Its suprisingly terse and to the point. A nice change from most of the overly long songs on Physical Graffiti. This song is an offcut from "III" by the way.

Maybe if you play it backwards itll reveal secret lyrics about Brain Epstein, Satan and the meaning of life.

Bob Dylan – Queen Jane Approximately Lyrics 19 years ago
I always thought it was about some girl that Dylan was infatuated with, but she thinks she is too good for him because she is too popular (hence the irony in the title).

Basically Dylan is saying that when all her worshippers desert her and she learns the transience of popularity then she can still turn to him. He comes across as rather pathetic now that I think of it.

Still, this is my favourite Dylan song after Desolation Row. I love the imagery.
