Led Zeppelin – Wearing and Tearing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
And it's not about Jimmy Page's massive drug habit at the time? CODA was released as a method of paying Jimmy Page's outstanding UK Tax bill, as I recall. |

Marillion – Grendel Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The original Grendel was a monster in the Anglo-Saxon epic Beowulf. Descendant of Cain, mere-dweller, and with the meanest mother around, he was the hero Beowulf's first foe in the work. The song is quite faithful to the original. |

It's easy to cover a song, much harder to write it in the first place... |
Blue Öyster Cult – Then Came The Last Days Of May Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"A true story about some guys from Long Island, New York who drove out West to find some illegal substances. Some to smoke and some to sell and unfortunately they met a fate they didn't deserve." Buck Dharma - UK Tour 2003 |

Blue Öyster Cult – Harvester Of Eyes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
According to Buck Dharma, "Harvester Of Eyes" is about former U.S. Supreme Court justice Abe Fortas. The following is from Compuserve's American Academic Encyclopedia: Abe Fortas, b. Memphis, Tenn., June 19, 1910, d. Apr. 5, 1982, was a prominent Washington, D. C., attorney and presidential advisor when President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed him to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1965. Johnson's subsequent nomination of Fortas as chief justice was blocked by Senate foes of his activist stand on civil liberties, and the nomination was caught up in a clash between the executive and legislative branches. In 1969, following charges of questionable ethics and conflict of interest, Fortas resigned from the Court. His arguments in GIDEON V. WAINWRIGHT (1962) established the right of the poor to legal counsel. What's all that got to do with "Harvester Of Eyes"? Not much. However, it was Fortas' senate nomination hearings which inspired Richard Meltzer to write the song's lyrics. When Fortas' avoidance of service in World War II was questioned, he responded that he had ocular tuberculosis -- which inspired the lyric, "I'm the eye-man of TV, with my occular TB". |
Blue Öyster Cult – Burnin' For You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
And the correct line is "time to play B Sides", the things you used to have in the vinyl age. Kids, ask yer parents... Buck Dharma now mimes the action of flipping a record when he sings that line, just to make sure. |
Genesis – The Carpet Crawlers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
To ruin it's mystery... It's one of Peter Gabriel's thinly veiled sex songs. Crawlers in a red / ochre corridor, having to get in to get out, all fighting in one direction to a door that leads them away... |
Genesis – Dancing With The Moonlit Knight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Actually, it's a very clever bit of social satire for the times, with some funny plays on words, if you want to look into it. |
Genesis – Blood On The Rooftops Lyrics | 19 years ago |
