the thing i dont get about this song is what perspective the singer is in. she's singing about someone who has a new boy, so at first i thought maybe this was written by a guy and performed by rose. but then at the end she sings "you can have him, and i'll have my own" which makes it sound like she'll get her own boy too?
maybe she was dating a bisexual guy? |

it's "shallow graves", not "shadow graves", and "your shadow" not "the shadow"
and that "lock me teeth" part is wrong but i have no idea what hes saying.
in the BMX Bandits he says something like "your lock retreat"
in the Adam Green version he changes the verse completely to "i stop then to remember im just counting sheep"
in the Yo La Tengo version she says "your lock and key"
and finally in the Cub version she says "i wallow in the memory of lock may keep(?)" |

this is a pretty simple song actually
its about the last days of summer, indian summer rather, a brief period of warm weather between autumn and winter. its about two summer lovers, given the last chance to reunite. they went to a cemetery and had breakfast, and it probably started to rain. |

i really dont like the womans backup vocals on this.. shes all off rhythm and weird, its distracting..
does anyone else think she sorta fucks up the words in the second to last verse? where they go "from the shackles of language" it sounds to me like she sorta just mumbles along. either way, the way she sings "walk away, walk away, walk away" is really obnoxious. conor delivers a superb performance, and i really like the guitar and trumpet solo/bridge parts |
