I would like to say thanks to Matt for writing this song about MY life in the past year.. lol.. Only Kidding, but this song like really is my past year. Cause I really do hate who I've been. I can relate to both a friendship and my relationship with Christ. Proverb - A forceful and brief statement that expresses a basic truth. .. The sun always rises- that is a basic truth. The second verse really gets me. I think its about someone who really doesn't have anyone to turn to, and even if they did they don't feel comfortable talking about it. So they hold it in, they get paranoid and jumpy. And all the pressure is building , even though they are getting away with everything. To them it feels like things are about to come crashing down. The next part, I feel is where they incorporate Christ into the song. "Reverberating footsteps synching up to the beating of my heart." Like Christ was already in his heart he had just screwed up and Christ was pounding hard in his mind trying to tell him to come back. "And I was positive that unless I got myself together I would watch me fall apart" Need I say more? He says he couldn't let that happen again because he is humiliated about what he has done before and that he has has to pick up the pieces of his broken life all by himself. The Chorus needs no explanation. It is very flat out. It's a confession to someone that he has messed up and he's sorry it took so long for him to see it and change. Stay True, "Weyne" |

I just want to comment on a few lines.. I really like pretty-in-punk's description, as well as caspirella. This could be between bf/gf or two friends. I'm not the one who broke you / I'm not the one you should fear.. Meaning that He is not the one who hurt you so why do you keep pulling yourself away like I will. I thought I lost you somewhere / but you were never really ever there at all .. He was getting further on in the relationship and when he turned to look at her, she was not there and he realized she never really wanted the kind of relationship he wanted. And I don't need the fallout / Of all the past that's in between us / And I'm not holdin' on / And all your lies weren't enough to keep me here.. He doesn't need her to explain everything to him and he's not holding on to her anymore because he has finally realized that she was lying when she said that things were getting better. So he is out of here because love from him is not what she needs. I know its out there.. He's telling her that even though it is over between them, that she shouldn't stop searching for the someone or something she needs, because it is out there, whether she chooses to see it or not. |

To me this song is about the situation between two friends, perhaps Christian, where one has slowly lost faith. The other friend has witnessed his friend come from a life full of sin to a better one with Jesus, and now he is watching that same friend be tempted with the same things over again. The faithful friend states that "its not the way it used to be" and he pleads with the other not to fall back down and make the same mistakes all over and that if he just believes in himself that he can make it through. I believe this song is definately spoken from experience. |
