so relating back to Closer, this is basically the scene after Anna (Julia Roberts) tells Larry (Clive Owen) that she cheated with Dan (Jude Law). Where Larry goes to a strip club and pays Alice (Natalie Portman) to strip for him since he is obviously messed up over the breakup. And Alice just left Dan for cheating with Anna.

Since all the people mentioned in this song suffer from their own... illnesses? I don't know how to put it, but they are all suffering. So I thought the "Hey baby, can you bleed like me?" is saying something like, "Can you suffer like me?"
I could be devastatingly wrong, if I am, I apologize.

didn't Billy Idol, The Cure, The Clash, and The Ramones each do a cover of it? I think The Cure has that bit from that song by The Supremes.
I kind of think The Clash's and The Ramones's versions sound exactly alike, though. I haven't heard it enough to tell the difference.
I prefer The Cure's version, but I don't know where to listen to the original by Gloria Jones. |
