Firstly, I think your interpretation is awesome and you articulated yourself well. I've been mulling this song over in my head for a few days now. Obviously it's beautifully written and insanely catchy for an Okkervil song but I'm not entirely sold that it is about a homosexual relationship due to the fact that Will Sheff has written many songs from a female point of view before (Starry Stairs for instance), and, as far as I can see, the narrator does not distinguish themselves as a male at any point. That being said, your interpretation is the best I have seen so it's tough to argue with. |

wow this is a bad song. he really cant sing and this is coming from someone who listens to fugazi (all u people who listen to good music will know what i mean). eminem is really, really, really bad. he doesn't even play his own instruments and all his songs sound the same. he has sung about the same thing for years and its just boring. how can you say "eminem is so deep bro" wen he has songs like "ass like that" this shit is tired and pathetic. sorry to all u rap fans, enjoy ur music but in my opinion, this is really bad. |

Even if Carter was guilty, which i am sceptical about, that website takes things far, far too litreally. Of course Dylan wouldn't know how things went down that night or what people said to eachother. He's telling his interpratation of the story of Rubin Carter. And even if Carter WAS guilty, he still wasn't given a fair trial. |

Its cool if people think this is a bad song but i sure dont. Its by no means my favourite Bright Eyes song but its still a brilliant, raw, emotive track. I think its one of the more thoughtful pieces of work that Conor has done. And as for jumping on the 'hate george bush bandwagon', i think thats not true. he was writing about Bush back in 2002, before that goddamed american idiot came out. i love green day but thats ruined them for me. A lot of Conor's other work is brilliant and people who hate this song should really give it a try. Jst as an experiment. Lastly, Conor isn't trying to overthrow the president or anything. He knows the election is over and there is nothing that he can do about it so yes, he is bitching about George Bush but i think he has the right to. He's just one of these people that needs to express their opinions and he does it in his music just like some of u come here and express how shit u think he is. its all opinion. |
