Purity Ring – Shuck Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I love the beautiful brutality of this song. The ethereal voices blending with the deep resonating bass, and the lyrics of taking guts to the shed outside. As if something, perhaps love, has driven her to simplistic insanity. Cause and effect. Crazy. I love it. |
Télépopmusik – Yesterday Was a Lie Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Long ago, I would have said that this song corresponded with my life during years of an abusive relationship. If you continue to listen to noise that rambles on afterwards, sirens and keyboard clacking, beeping and electronic tickings, that's what it was like when the magic of loving someone begins to fade away. In our modern age, technology is used throughout the dating scene; texting, skyping, face timing, emailing, and everything in between. The coldness that follows, the distancing, and that breaking away. Things becoming routine, machine-like. Yet, this lovely, humanistic, painstakingly bare voice is begging for that one to stay, for the love to remain the same, and yet it won't. Did she sell her soul for that moment? Perhaps. Did I sell my soul for that moment in time, to be loved as I believe I could be? Yes. But I stole it right back. Can't believe it's taken me so long to discover this song, but it just doesn't pertain anymore. Still going to love it by singing it when the moon begins to wane. |
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Fire Walker Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Saw them playing this song live. Even in the crowd, I couldn't get enough, swaying my head back with my hair loose and tumbled, arms out reaching. There's something so sensually destructive about this song. Weeks later, this song is still my favorite that one night I was taken over by my love for it that I got up took my hula hoop, and danced to this song in the dead of night. Naked. Yes. |
Florence + the Machine – No Light, No Light Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think there is a line in there that's a bit off. "You can choose what stays and what fades away," should actually be "can't". You CAN'T choose what stays and what fades away. Life is constantly changing, and you have to be flexible and understanding in letting go or handling what fades and what stays. Nou? Am I wrong? And perhaps, "But it's so hard, my love, to say it to you all alone," could be instead, "aloud?" It's just what I hear and what makes sense at least in composure. And yes, I do think it's about cheating. It's interesting to read how other people are plugging them into their own lifestyles as they try to find ways to relate the song to what goes on in their life. Everyone has their own perspective. It's fascinating. I think its cheating because I'm doing the same thing, picking out lyrics in the song that make more sense to how it relates to me that other ways like God, or abuse, or losing love in a relationship. But unless Florence decides to tell us exactly what this song is about that is all we're doing. Making our own interpretation. I'd like to know what she had in mind for this song. I think that's more fascinating than my own thoughts. Because in a sense, that's what the true meaning is. |
Gotye – The Only Way Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Reminds me of the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Anyone? Anyone? No? Read it, then you'll get my drift. It makes sense though. Just in my head. |
Jesca Hoop – Murder of Birds Lyrics | 12 years ago |
(Sorry, revise) I'm not a bird I'm a murder of birds Shifting my shape When your tongue finds the words Like I hate you when I love you the most Love you the most Love you the most This shape of snake In a defensive coil Same retracted lips Of the one foolish girl Says she hates you when she loves you the most Loves you the most Loves you the most And I've got demons when I need 'em Don't ask to see them they're not supposed to be used against you, Oh Can we build a safe house Far from the bitter bride? And we'll make a home with a brown recluse And the cobra left outside For the spider, we'll give a web To the cobra, a lullaby And keeping the demons happy You make free for me to fly And the shape of home baked bread And the girl in a turned down bed And a wick of twisted thread From the loving words you said, birds This shape of my breast And a shape of my kiss Demented coil With a slither and a hiss I said, "I hate you and I Love you the most Love you the most Love you" And I've got demons when I need 'em Don't ask to see them they're not supposed to be used against you, Oh Can we build a safe house Far from the bitter bride? And we'll make a home with a brown recluse And the cobra left outside For the spider, we'll give a web To the cobra, a lullaby And keeping the demons happy You make free for me to fly And the shape of home baked bread And the girl in a turned down bed And a wick of twisted thread From the loving words you said And the shape of home baked bread And the girl in a turned down bed And a wick of twisted thread From the loving words you said 'Cause I'm not a bird I'm a murder of birds |
Jesca Hoop – Murder of Birds Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I'm not a bird I'm a murder of birds Shifting my shape When your tongue findsthe words |
Jesca Hoop – The Kingdom Lyrics | 12 years ago |
These are the correct lyrics, everyone! All of the falling on the ground Holder in ground, I lay down a shrine And I come with the autumn to tear it down Orange and brown and I lay a soft Down for all the waiting old And dying brethren Bathing bones and brine separate Your light from mine multiply Under the spell of full November moon Light on the broom, frost in my room In through a window came a ghost I knew She paid me a visit while I was in my bed Sleepy, she said, "Sleep as though dead For in the morning you are called" Is what she said To the high desert, war is raging You must go to the battlefield And follow the cry of men rampaging And gather the ones that won't heal Down through a cloud of smoke to the promised land Many are dead, river runs red For my god and for my king is what he said Oh, I came down to my knees With my lips to his ear, my hand to his chest His wounded breast For my god and for my king, I will not rest But in the high desert, you are dying For your God and his ghost and the son Do not hold to the earth on which you are lying For the kingdom can never be won All of the falling on the ground Holder in ground, I lay down a shrine And I come with the autumn to tear it down Orange and brown and I lay a soft Down for all the waiting old and dying brethren Bathing bones and brine separate Your light from mine Let go of the earth *I saw a behind the scenes on the music video about what this song means, and she says it's about the battle for the kingdom of earth, between heaven and hell.(or something like that?) The music video is gorgeous, I think. She's such a free bird, and her music is glorious, epic ballad songs. Her voice has a hint of Irish/English to it even though she hails from California. She currently resides in Manchester so perhaps that has some influence. There is not one song of hers that is similiar to the other. Her tastes and her style are eclectic, and she herself says she finds it difficult to stick with one voice as she is constantly free ranging her talents. If left to her own devices, we'd have another Bjork on our hands. One thing is true, there is nothing out there that I have heard like her. I hope she keeps with her true artist creativity for a long time to come.* |
Azure Ray – New Resolution Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I've had the same issue like triciaagogo, meeting the man whom I know I will love forever, since the day we first met, but we live two hours away. Long distance relationships are too hard to maintain and we've tried before, but this time, I can't do it. I've already told him what I plan to do once the summer's over, since I'm only living with him for the summer, and when the problem first arose, this same came to me out of thin air. It's weird how songs that really hit you just find you when you really need them. So this song is going to help me move on.. I have to.. for my sake.. just move on. |
Seal – Don't Cry Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think actually it's "Cause it's I who understand..." Someone back me up on this. |
Seal – Don't Cry Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think there might be a few typos in this song.. I'm not for sure, but "I hear you 'fear' so alone.."? Shouldn't it be "feel"? And that part "cause it's I you understand".. I'm not sure that makes any sense. |
Loreena McKennitt – She Moved Through The Fair Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I adore this song, especially the way Mckennitt sings it. Such sweet melancholy. It's so mysterious. I never really understood most of what she was saying until I read the lyrics, and it just gave me chills. "It will not be long my love, till our wedding day..." |
Portishead – Western Eyes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Well, I'm not so sure, but I always thought it was "Yes, I'm breaking at the 'seams' just like you.." It think it sounds better that way because it makes more sense than scenes, but ya never know. I love this song either way.. |
Aqualung – Strange And Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Imagine being in the shower, watching the water come down as the sun from the window pierces through each droplet, the haze from the warm water rising causing everything to seem as if it were a dream closing your eyes gently while letting this song sink under your skin... Point blank. That's how I feel. It's strange and beautiful, don't you see? Lovely. |
Fiona Apple – Sleep to Dream Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Like madness wonderful. I'd love to bathe myself in this song 'cause it's just so powerful and cleansing of all the crappy relationships that happen, relatiing to this song. I getcha, Fiona, we here. |
David Bowie – Nature Boy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
There's an amazing remix to this song by Massive Attack from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack that makes me swoon. Swoon to the thought of love and that boy sad of eye. "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return.." |
The Chemical Brothers – Out Of Control Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Can't help but dance to this song with all the lights turned low and a black light glowing. Mmm, it's such an enticing song. "We're outta control" |
Bright Eyes – Lover I Don't Have to Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I can dedicate this song over and over again to more or to the same person. But in the end, it'll still be the same. "Then hurt me.." |
Placebo – Without You I'm Nothing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Makes me wanna scream and take all of this song with me to sleep. "You've never seen the lonely me at all.. "I... Fall." |
Frou Frou – Let Go Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Infinite. We feel infinite in the song. There's the beauty. Beauty in the breakdown. |
Frou Frou – The Dumbing Down of Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Oh, by the way, I always thought it was "Will you listen?" instead of "Will you miss him?" I'm not sure if that's just me though.. |
Frou Frou – The Dumbing Down of Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
