Warren Zevon – Play It All Night Long Lyrics | 14 years ago |
hah. meant to say...awesome song. So sardonic. I guess I think it's kind of anti-escapism rather than anti-south. Guess the alcoholism reference was a dark nod to his own troubles at that time? |

Bloc Party – Waiting for the 7:18 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Zeegen. The line is CLING to bottles not 'Clink two bottles' I regard this song as being from the view of someone who has drifted into a monotonous job somewhere in London and who can see no happiness in the future. He feels alienated from his colleagues 'Sitting in silence in bars after work, i've nothing to add or contest' He conrasts this apathy and alienation with childhood and the past (when times were better) He feels like he is missing his chance to make a mark or find happiness 'Grindining your teeth in the middle of the night' 'I wish I'd not been so scared of falling' The Brighton line is perhaps the most interesting. I personally find London really opressing and I know others who feel the same. Driving to Brighton (a town on the coast) can be seen as an escape metaphor, perhaps the protagonist is gonna take action to get more out of life. |
Brand New – Sowing Season (Yeah) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Ryan Adams – Strawberry Wine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's a great song. My favourite from 29. He uses the sad sweet voice, that he only rarely uses now. It always makes my heart break a bit. |
Vendetta Red – Opiate Summer Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The Mountain Goats – Love Love Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Just a couple of points besides they typos. It is King Saul that commits suicide not King Sol. This is a reference to King Saul in the books of Samuel in the bible. And the killer is Raskalnikov, a character in Crime and Punishment |
