Straylight Run – Hands in the Sky (Big Shot) Lyrics 18 years ago
i agree with BuildingMusic - it makes more sense, having to do with the newpapers. but the ennunciation on this song is really confusing.

i'm glad slr has gone political on the EP, though. in my opinion, it saves its songwriting. and i'm also really pleased john actually falls back on his screaming tone here. it'd be awesome if he went back to those roots a little more often.

this song is awesome. great message.

Straylight Run – It Never Gets Easier Lyrics 18 years ago
okay, so as everyone knows, this song was originally the bonus track on slr's debut album, but it went under the name of "costello". slr just tightened it up and raised the instrument back-up.

i think they messed the title. they should have kept the title.

calm down, people. it's just a song! someone's always going to like it, someone's always going to hate it, someone's always going to be indifferent, and someone's always going to go crazy over it and think it's the best song in the world. but everyone has a right to their own opinion.

so let's concentrate on the song (which can i had has already been pretty much analyzed to death and it's al redundant now) instead of trying to attack people who don't agree. if you don't like the song, fine. but don't offend people who do or slam them for liking it. and if you do like the song, don't slam people who don't.

for anyone who's asking how to find it, it's hard to find the cd it's on. you're better off downloading it anyways. mp3 versions are everywhere.

Dashboard Confessional – Vindicated Lyrics 19 years ago
i don't think chris can realli sing, sorry. but it doesn't even matter when he turns out a song like this one, because the lyrics and emotion are so strong the voice would get buried underneath them anyways. this is an incredibly well-written song, hands down. and i don't care where the spiderman came into it. it's still so personal with its meaning that it doesn't need the movie there.

Something Corporate – Konstantine Lyrics 19 years ago
there are only so many things people write songs about. sooner or later everything becomes just like everything else. i think this song does stand out from its pack, admittedly probably at first glance due to its length more than anything else. but there's a lot to this song that you can't undermine, and i'd never think of calling it "average". but people all like what they like in music, and everyone has their own opinion.

that said - this song has been analyzed to death already. for me, it's a layered song, that has a lot of depth to it, that brings out something different in each listener. i think that's the trademark of a good song. i don't care about the melody, i don't care about the singing (well ... not so much). for me it always comes down to the lyrics and what people can take away from them.

just because one song is good doesn't mean every song by a band will be. just because one song's bad doesn't mean every song will be bad. take them as something separate, until you get to the point where you can say every single thing they write is either good or bad, which i don't think you ever can. it's gonna be a mixed bag. live with it.

but in regards to something corporate - this song is their best, lyrically. and i call it amazing, because it's taken imagery to a heightened place that you don't need the story to understand and really might be better if you don't know the story behind the lyrics. if you don't think so, totally fine.
