This is the first Rilo song I ever heard, and I think it is my favorite. And the neat thing is, I have actually outstretched my arms on top of a mountain. I was on a trip to Spain with the school bad (not as nerdy as it seems) and we went to Montserrat, a friend and I stood at the top, looked out and outstretched our arms. I will always remeber that. |

i love the recorde version, when blake sings. but live is pretty good too, because jenny sings it.
it's cool, because when they play spectacular views blake sings it, in concert, as opposed to jenny singing (which she does on the album. So they kind of switch the spectacular views. |

i love his voice when he sings:

He sounds to innocent and pure, but sad at the same time.
I also like at the end when it gets quiet and he sings "all i have for the moment is a song to pass the time.." because that's excatly how i feel sometimes. |

i agree with saddle creek, at first i thought that it was about the relationship being calculated, and so the have sex alot to spice things up and be more spontaneous. But i think it works better with the sex itself being mechanical and calculated and whatnot.
I also agree with the conor dreaminess, he is sexy to the max! |

I think that this song could be about tim himself or the whole "emo" genre, even though cursive arent that emo...but anyways. a lot of the "emo" bands thrive on self pity, and pity from others, they are the martyrs. |

on the version i have, (a different one than wide awake its morning) his voice is so beautiful (well its beautiful all the time) and so adorable when it cracks on "Than when you TURNED away"
After the first verse, me eyes always well up with tears, then when he sings "let the poets cry themselves to sleep" i feel like the biggest tool on the planet.
But my favorite part, it the end:

at first, i really didnt like this song, im not sure why but then i saw a live video clip of this song, and it was just conor and his guitar, on the dark stage. For some reason it was just so perfect. i love this song now, its so honest and true. It's amazing how conor can do it. |

Its seems so beautifully honest, and quite truthful, he just sounds very blunt.
I love how in this song, (like many other bright eyes songs) the mood and tempo, and beat change quickly. conor's a master at that. |

the way it sounds is just so incredible. kind of like the planets all align and for a moment you can see how painfully beautiful some things can be. it's a moment of beautiful sadness. |
