mewithoutYou – The Soviet Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is amazing. The opening line is a take on John Lennon's "Love" "Love is real, real is love" |
mewithoutYou – The Dryness and the Rain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Isa ruhullah alayhi salat wa sallam" Isa, Spirit of Allah, a prayer of peace, be upon you Loosely: Jesus Christ, we pray, peace be upon you This song is stellar. |
Metric – Raw Sugar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Is it just me, but doesn't it sound a bit like "Hello Tomorrow" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Maybe Karen O borrowed a bit? |
Kanye West – We Major (feat. Nas, Really Doe) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is going to go down in history as one of the greatest hip hop songs ever. Jon Brion's work here is amazing. |
Feist – My Moon My Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I agree with Mr.Me wholeheartedly. You should probably vote him into Parliament. |
The Dears – Ticket To Immortality Lyrics | 17 years ago |
(I listened to three versions of Murray doing this acoustic to make sure I got it right :P) I'm guessing he's singing how "great" the industry is. How The Dears aren't treated as anything close to international superstars, they're often tossed aside by critics, they never seem to enjoy playing at festivals. And I mean he says hangs out with Pariahs (which is an outcast or someone who's rejected from a society) and that people are seemingly using him (labels perhaps?) 'Mal' I believe is French for evil or bad, I'm assuming its another jab at the industry. On a longshot, I'm gonna say that during the last section (The world loves you), Murray is singing to himself. Trying to fool himself almost. Either that or he's thinking about what he was told (or told himself) when he was aspiring to become a musician. That people would love him and his music. Anyways it's late, and I'm rambling :P |
The Dears – The Second Part Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Losing a lover for good, replaying it over and over again. This song is 10x better live when the solo is played on the electric guitar. |
Feist – My Moon My Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If you seriously think it's about anal sex you're stupid lol Its about thinking a guy is amazing, but slowly realizing he's not cut out to how he seems to be moon = time passing, each night, waiting for him. etc. |
Blonde Redhead – Kazuality Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Simone and Kazu are married, not Amedeo and Kazu |
Blonde Redhead – Melody (French version) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Holy crap, this version is awesome. Kazu singing in French really fits the vibe of the song. |
Blonde Redhead – The Dress Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song has this bizarre hypnotic vibe like "Publisher" The only thing that throws me off is the horse reference, I'm not sure what her accident would have to do with someone cheating. |
The Mamas & the Papas – California Dreamin' Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Escapism |
Primal Scream – Movin' On Up Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Funny how different a band they sound like on XTRMNTR. Ah, time. |
Jeff Buckley – Back in N.Y.C. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's even better when you realize he did this whole song in a house by himself with nothing fancy. This is better than the original |
Jeff Buckley – I Know We Could Be So Happy, Baby (If We Wanted to Be) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
One of Radiohead's new songs "All I Need" really makes me think about this song for some reason |
Jeff Buckley – You and I Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Just to add, during "we will feel the weight fall away from us in time, it really does sound like he's crying or tearing up. |
Jeff Buckley – You and I Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's really hard for me to listen to this song. There's something about the way he's pushing out his notes, it just makes me so sad. Like you really feel his pain. |
Jeff Buckley – Vancouver Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think out of all the songs he didn't get to release, this one had the most potential. He sounde so vulnerable, like he was really trying to get rid of some demons inside him. |
Jeff Buckley – Witches' Rave Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"I can't help from looking outside for a guarantee." Man, that's such an amazing line, it's so beautiful yet haunting |
Jeff Buckley – Yard Of Blonde Girls Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song is about being tired about having everything in the world, and how drab it is to be 'sexy' |
David Bowie – Let's Dance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Awesome guitar solo |
The Libertines – What Became Of The Likely Lads Lyrics | 19 years ago |
So sad that they broke up =( |
Stevie Wonder – Sir Duke Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Awesome tribute for the late great Duke Ellington, and other jazz artists that inspired Stevie. |
PJ Harvey – Is This Desire? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'd say it's about discovering that you're not in love, you're just attracted. Joe feels like a king, but Dawn doesn't seem to feel so great. Like a bastard taking your virginity or something. |
Jeff Buckley – Gunshot Glitter Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song rocks. He reaches his highest note recorded on this track, on "the semi's left behind" that last note on "behind" always creeps me out a tad. This song is just beautiful in a ..weird creepy rockstar industry puppet way. |

Jeff Buckley – Forget Her Lyrics | 19 years ago |
He played this live a couple times though, so I guess after awhile he didn't feel so remorseful for recording it |
Jeff Buckley – Corpus Christi Carol Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's dedicated to Roy, a friend of his who got him into classical and operatic pieces |
Jeff Buckley – Mojo Pin Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Apparently he really drank a lot, hahaha |
Jeff Buckley – Morning Theft Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think Jeff was always underestimated as a writer, he was really good at writing words. |
Jeff Buckley – Back in N.Y.C. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this is one hell of a cover, simply amazing. There isn't much I can think of it, other than assuming he felt like covering it, because he just moved away from New York which was stressing him out and causing some creative conflict, at the same time, I'm sure he missed the city deeply. Sad that he was never able to go back. |
