I almost feel like this person has been trying so hard to become something they're not. I can personally relate to this song very well. He may have even gotten the person he thought he wanted to be with but after everything he realizes he lost himself on the way.

if you're an alcoholic or a drug addict you know this songs meaning. i mean, the last bit isn't even about partying. It's about staying home, drinking, wishing there was something more, knowing theres something else out there for you. Drinking by candle light trying to make what you're doing seem less sad somehow, looking at the TV seeing that big world you gave up up. Earlier its just coke and how you're never gonna get out of this lifestyle. |

I'm not 100% what the songs whole meaning is, but you can see how it looks at the actors and thinks that they're completely fake. Not as actors, but as people. "They're not pretending, there's not someone else beneath". He's saying the actors are just props on the show. They're not people anymore, everything is too fake. |

I think it's pretty clear, atleast ot me, that this song is talking about how your best moments are in the womb and once you leave your stranded. The womb is "mothership" and you get ejected from it and your stranded an infant searching for the warmth of the womb you'll never find again in this cold world. |

To me it's about a relationship where they seperated but the girl will still have flings with him but not tell anyone about it and it's part of his side of the agreement not to tell anyone (telling them he's just a visitor). Maybe they wouldn't like him, the girls obviously moved on with her life and has new friends to go with her new way of life. He's starting to realize how much she's trying to change with her new "gaudy apartment complex". The word gaudy kinda shows that she's trying really hard, maybe a little too hard. It just doesn't seem right to him. But with all these things going on, her new friends, the gaudy apartment, he realizes why he was worth leaving. That probably seemed kinda obvious to everybody but thought I might add it. |

I never thought it was a pro-drugs song. I always thought it was more him only finding love and peace with himself when he was high/drunk, which of course isn't a very pleasant thought. Maybe some potheads/alcoholics are ok with that, but it doesn't seem like a "party song" to me but more a reason as to why you should never rely on drugs. |
