I think this song points out how people generally make light of very serious and very major world issues; rather than advocating this attitude, this song is criticizing it. "Dummy serve your own needs". The world has been heading down a self-destructive path, and we've just been letting it happen. Most people go on with their daily monotonous lives pretty much pretending that we're NOT headed for catastrophe. On one hand, that's crazy.. on the other, when the average Joe DOES care - what can he do? "World serves its own needs". Catch 22. It's not only the Joe Shmoes who are letting it happen, those in power are as well. Which makes it even more crazy. The end of the world as we know it truely is coming our way, SOON, and too many people remain oblivious. Enlighten yourself - look up "peak oil". |
