The Ataris – Act V, Scene IV: And So It Ends Like It Begins Lyrics
| 18 years ago

this song reminds me of the french movie, jeux d'enfants. (eng. "love me if you dare")
has the same dramatic ending and it gives me the goosebumps whenever i listen to this song and think of that one particular scene in the film.
the leaked "unmastered album" version didn't live up to my expectations. i heard kris play this live and acoustic and it was just beautiful. hopefully the final product will be mixed differently. |

Plain White T's – Cinderella Story Lyrics

one thing i never understood, what's so "cinderella" about it?
i mean, the common fairytale of cinderella and prince charming has that disgusting happy ending which contradicts what's being portrayed in the song.
either way, this song is reserved for the lonely days. yikes! |

The line "time seems to drip like Dali" refers to Salvador Dali's painting, "The Persistence of Memory." I finally caught that today after overlistening to this song for more than a year. Anyway, if you've seen the painting, you'll understand what he means. |

"I know the kid with his guitar so drunk and anxious,
it's been done to death but tell me what hasn't, i'll try it."
Anyone else aware of Kevin's former band, Miracle of 86? I have a feeling that this song is about him deciding to go solo and the dilemmas that go with it.
It took a while for this song to grow on me, but it did. The whole "Daniel's twenty year old friend" line just grabs you... Yep... |

This song reminds me of Heather Matarazzo's character in Welcome to the Dollhouse. And the way she treats her best male friend near the climax of the story. |

"Spreading blankets on the beach"
Yeah, it's no secret that Conor tends to have "repeated imagery and symbols" as mentioned in the mock interview at the end of one track on Fevers & Mirrors. |

Bright Eyes – Old Soul Song (For the New World Order) Lyrics

I really don't know and don't want to get into religion, but I feel as if the "camera like a bible" simile mocks religion in the sense that there is no picture proof when it comes to the bible. And after you process a photograph, you can see truth and its beauty.
That's my take. Definitely one of the best songs on I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning. |

Neva Dinova – Brooklyn Lyrics

I was told that the line "visions of her hair will keep me warm" comes from one of Hemingway's works. After an extensive google search, I can't find any connection. I wish I was a literature freak so I could see for myself all the literary connections in songs that I normally miss.
Anyway, "Brooklyn" is a beautiful song about a man following a girl and it seems to me that he hasn't given up even after a restraining order. It makes me chuckle. |

waiting for someone, doing what you can to make them happy, then realizing that they're still thinking of their ex-lover.
it's the worse feeling... |

The Ataris – Unopened Letter To The World Lyrics

if you read enough about emily dickinson, parts of this song will just scream about you.
"dressed in white"
"in seclusion"
"mr. higginson"
"candle... night"
emily dickinson dressed in white and stayed indoors for almost half her life, in seclusion. she wrote most of her poems at night....
this is an amazing song and it ties into kris' reflection on his career, etc. |
