this is an amazing song, my absolute favorite from 'almost here'. The ACADEMY is...FUCKING amazing, i've seen them live twice already and can't wait to see them two more times in march...if you ever have the opportunity to see them, GO! They are AMAZING live and put on a great show. i have to say though, the video is kinda sucky, but i do agree i think it is about the entertainment business and its hypocrisy, but then again i also think it might be about an ex "take back everything you ever said, you never meant a word of it". i think it's also about them getting big in the entertainment industry...and maybe the ex was all ove celebs and "hollywood hills and suburban thrills" so he's criticizing both of them at the same time. fucking awesome song! |

I LOVE THIS SONG!!! Man I've NEVER been a country fan...I HATED country...but this song totally changed my opinion re: country. Tim McGraw is amazing, i love this song. It's so inspirational...you dont have to like all country to like this song. What a beautiful song...this is the only song I've heard from Clarity, but now I'm inspired to listen to the album. Everyone had some great comments...but I think this song is about a guy who is afraid to get into a relationship..and once he is in one, he questions it because the girl isn't all too into it. the first line "the first star you see may not be a star" so basically "wait" for "one more". i think he's wishing to be in a relationship with this girl but he's not sure if she's the ONE. or perhaps waiting for one more star could refer to wishing on stars..that the relationship will work out the way he wants it to. and "deciding if its time" could maybe refer to ...is it time for him to open himself up to a relationship? he says "i'm careful but not sure how it goes" and "you can lose yourself in your courage" <-what a heartbreaking line...this i think foreshadows what happens to him i think when he asks "can you still feel the butterflies" etc, he's asking himself as well as his g/f, questioning both of their motives in this relationship. i think "when i'm alone with my big plans" might refer to him thinking of this relationship as LoNG term, or even marriage, and that's basically when the relationship ends. so yeah thats it. FANTASTIC song. its perfect for people who are just beginning a relationship or trying to renew/evaluate their relationships...one simple question..."can you still feel the butterflies?" <3 JEW forever |

yeah i DEFINITELY agree with the first post.... this song is reminiscent of eminem's Lose Yourself and 8 Mile and Superman and Sing for the Moment...all are AWESOME songs and Mockingbird is definitely in their league... I think all the songs on this album are beautiful, but especially this one. I think it's mainly about a relationship that isn't accepted by others but to the people in the relationship, they're really in love and they don't understand why everyone is so negative towards them and is trying to pry them apart. Everyone thinks they aren't mature enough to handle this kind of love, but as Vanessa says, Who's to say we won't stay together. This also seems applicable to long distance relationships. I think she's trying to say that if you really love someone, it doesn't matter about the age or anything else, as long as you are in love and have that special person who helps you "shine". Overall, it's a very uplifting song. LUV IT! |
