MGMT – Indie Rokkers Lyrics | 12 years ago |
So I mean, he may not have tried to lie, or gone in planning that. He may have lied, but it just feels like a more complicated situation than that- it just came out, or that he feels confused too |
MGMT – Indie Rokkers Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think it's interesting that some have interpreted this song to mean that this guy lied to this girl to have sex with her. Why? Because I couldnt really tell what he was saying a lot of the time before I looked it up here, and the general 'feel' of the song didnt seem to convey that. The sound of it is.. I dunno, he just sounds very vulnerable as well. |
John Prine – Same Thing Happened To Me Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this song makes me feel better when im sad. to me it feels like john prine is telling me to cheer up by telling me 'the same thing happened to me..' A fine line separates a boy from the blues Looks like you could use some company Same thing, same thing happened to me Someone, someone take a hold of my hand.. Same thing, same thing happened to me Its like the way, some people call it 'feminine' but its just a feely style instead of a thinking, address the problem way of addressing a troubling time... anyway, its like the way some people feel better by offering up similar problems to yours when you're down. We're in the same boat/i've been there before. |
Kid Cudi – Heaven at Nite Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think this also has a theme of experiencing some of his greatest highs while out partying. and that he is chasing these universal truths in the ecstasy of partying but isnt quite getting what he wants and feels like theres no other way to get it "i lack what the world cant give me"... anyway a large portion of his heaven is associated with the heaven of drunken joy: You feel so free like you're high as a kite Like how you feel if you drink some bud light Followed by Jag Models will smile then tilt their head back These are a few of the visions I like |
Kid Cudi – Alive (Nightmare) (feat. Ratatat) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
man people require so much out of each other. this girl has to be 'sexy' AND 'pure' |
Kanye West – Paranoid Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i agree with robwyattfan.. come on, considering who wrote it, the writer is a cheater.. this is a song where a player is reassuring his girlfriend and trying to get her to ignore the rumors |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Suck My Kiss Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I dont think it sounds like nonconsensual as someone said. Yeah the words your mouth was made to.. are a little strong but at other parts he says: awh baby please be there suck my kiss cut me my share - which is like, asking her to do it, not nicely but theres a setup to this situation she gets involved in where she agrees, the line baby please be there could be "get over here bitch before I.." if it was really terrible do you want me girl to be your thief awh baby just for you i'd steal anything that you want me to -again not great values but a realll sorta rapist creepy song will be all about using the girl and ditching her. this lyric points to anthony making sacrifices (of some sort) for her, doing something to please her im a straight girl but all i can say is that pretty much every guy loves getting a blowjob and that for most guys and some girls theres just something sexy about describing each other in sexual terms. i bet anthony's girl, whoever she is, says some pretty nasty things right back. |
The Replacements – Portland Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Sorry about the huge double post, I dont even think I clicked twice and that still happened.. |
The Replacements – Portland Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I feel weird thinking this, as so many of these songs have people commenting that they refer to drugs, often when I think it's not so clear the song is about drugs. So this might be my own example of taking a few phrases and over stating my case, but "Shared a cigarette for breakfast Shared an airplane ride for lunch" Sets a very unbalanced picture of these people and their unhealthy lifestyle.. "Well I predict we'll have a drink" It's only one word but in the song it just comes out so darkly colored as a reference to a big problem, to me.. "And your ears are gonna ring And your eyes just wanna close Nothing changing I suppose It's too late to turn back, here we go Portland, oh no" To me this section, the first part resembles what a really big hit of something or other feelings like. The second part reflects that they are a little conflicted about going to Portland, definitely are torn, know it's a bad idea. The "Oh, no.." part sounds like someone to me has given in to their own dark side. Then again, all of these pieces are really quite ambiguous, and my arguments are based as much on the lyrics as my own subjective "feeling" evoked when I hear them sung by this guy. So I may be wrong. I do hear Portland is a good place to find dope.. |

Lady GaGa – Beautiful, Dirty, Rich Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i know right |
Lady GaGa – Beautiful, Dirty, Rich Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i personally feel that in a married unit, with kids, i could get a moralistic streak that you should forswear anything to honor what you have committed to them. moral issues do shade in like this. but in terms of treating it by the court system, illegality causes way more problems than it solves, i.e. the aforementioned driving the market underground problem. |
Lady GaGa – Fashion! Lyrics | 14 years ago |
everyones sure what she thinks im sure shes closer to this person's post " Rated +1 rate down rate up I completely agree, but I'd add that this song seems self-deprecating. Part of her can acknowledge that a love for fashion and super-thin models is ignorant and short-lived, but another, more theatrical -- maybe even more primal -- part of her can appreciate the beauty of it. " Upenn, for someone who clearly loves her so much, dont you think she'd be a little more of a complex thinker about the matter of fashion than that? I dont think she obsesses about its market share either. |
Lady GaGa – Beautiful, Dirty, Rich Lyrics | 14 years ago |
more than 40% of adult americans have smoked marijuana... and i thought every american family had at least one alcoholic in it, maybe not in the nuclear one but at least within the cousins/aunts and uncles/grandparents area.. you're treating drugs as a moral problem people will always do drugs. no matter what. the question is limited the damage. is driving the market underground (as in Prohibition of alcohol) so that gangsters (i.e. Al Capone) can have a mega-corporation sized area of the economy to take over a good way to benefit our society/reduce drug use? MEDICAL problem, PSYCHOLOGICAL problem, not a moral issue. |
Curtis Mayfield – So In Love Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Can't believe no one has commented! Really cute, sweet love song. With realistic lyrics about real life love. |
Lil' Wayne – Mr. Postman Lyrics | 14 years ago |
its a famous american cliche, if the kid doesnt look like yours 'the postman' is the father. its like 'the poolboy' basically- your wife slept with the postman while you were out. this isnt so much a romantic song-in fact i dont think its romantic at all, especially cause he doesnt make the woman seem strong, in fact when she cheats on her man she says the man must be weak for her to do it.. - its more a song saying "i can take your girl, nigga" |
Lil' Wayne – We Be Steady Mobbin Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this song has some of the most misogynistic objectifying lyrics in rap and i even like lil wayne |
Lil' Wayne – Pussy, Money, Weed Lyrics | 14 years ago |
by committing i mean ' in the context of the song' i mean he says 'im gonna do this if you cheat' i think he can be pretty radical sometimes he has a song where its like 'i wouldnt care if you was a prostitute.. etc etc.. speak how you feel... dont ever keep your secrets' etc etc. |
Lil' Wayne – Pussy, Money, Weed Lyrics | 14 years ago |
lets face it guys, this is about as romantic as lil wayne is gonna get. i mean really he's good but he's not a genius, at least intellectually/romantically... im down except for the part where he talks about cutting her finger off. i hate to scream think of the children but hes just so fucking huge and i think its irresponsible committing to do something violent to a woman if he thinks shes strayed. |

The Presidents of the United States of America – Kitty Lyrics | 14 years ago |
How about it's a song about a cat but its also a song where he, just like everyone else here, cant help but think of sexual innuendo when they hear the word kitty or pussy. So he sings it all eyebrow-raising sexy-like in a cheeky way. |
The Cribs – Women's Needs Lyrics | 14 years ago |
You arent crazy, the intro sounds just like the Stone Roses |
Bob Marley and the Wailers – Pimpers Paradise Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree that the main message is summed up in "Don't lose track of yourself" I'm a woman and I spend a lot of time sighing at bad messages about women, but even though this song sounds a little bit bad about women, I really think ultimately it is a song about something that really happens- what circa describes, about girls moving to the city and getting lost in the glitz in the glamour. In the end, all you have are a couple friends and your family, everything else is easily lost, so everything she is starstruck by is just empty- meanwhile, she's getting a slutty reputation. Bad all around. |
Nas – Black President Lyrics | 15 years ago |
YEAH WE DID :D |
Young Jeezy – My President Lyrics | 15 years ago |
what is up with all these conservative comments? you people have no ability to see life from a diverse array of perspectives. stop believing all the media that lives for commercials and the politicians that live for deals on the side, the companies that are backing groups in the congolese civil war right now in hopes that they'll be backing the side that wins and controls the coltan mines where we get an important mineral for the ever important cell phone. ugh, anyway. point is, the world is more fucked up than you could ever imagine. the entire world is in good sentiment and good faith looking back up to us again because of obama's solid and major victory (he even scored a point in nebraska). neoconservative policies dont work in real life. they just dont. thats why people voted obama, because none of the shit bush and mccain said matched with what was happening in real life. this song is from someone who grew up in pretty sketch circumstances and reflect his view.. it isn't so bad. i for one am glad all the people i see in rural NC and in baltimore and in any city in the country now know 'our nation can by popular/electoral vote elect a black man'. now they know that. they havent fulfilled a dream, they just GOT their dream back to try for some more. |
Michael Franti And Spearhead – Ganja Babe Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Yep. Song = weed is good. Understanding Marijuana by Mitch Earlywine.. good literature review of tons of studies.. all I can say is, certainly a better choice than cigarettes or the real big loser, alcohol. |
Randy Newman – Baltimore Lyrics | 16 years ago |
.. ugh. omg. |

Justin Timberlake – LoveStoned/I Think She Knows (Interlude) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
the interlude, as many people have said, is fantastic. its just repetition of a couple phrases but its AMAZING. |
Wanda Jackson – Funnel of Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Seventy-something Wanda Jackson, who has been called the Queen of Rockabilly and the first female rock-n-roll singer, was terse but direct when asked recently about the meaning of her fifties hit "Funnel of Love." "Pussy, Baby," she replied, "It's about being with another woman." " |
Cake – Hem of Your Garment Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I mean... "i have no love but only goals how very empty is my soul it is a soul that feels no thrill a soul that could easily kill" that in particular stands out to me. there are many people like this and we all have bad run-ins with them occasionally. |
Cake – Hem of Your Garment Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I DONT think it's sarcasm. I think he's writing from the perspective of a sociopath (one who has no empathy or feelings for others). I've DATED one and this song could be sung by him. |
Tripping Daisy – I Got A Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think when he says 'and shes got a guy' he means himself. its all one girl, a girl he loves who's like all girls, complicated and sometimes lame but loveable. |
Andy Griggs – You Won't Ever Be Lonely Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i LOVE this song. it sounds beautiful and its finally a realistic love song. reminds me of my parents relationships.. love isnt always complete bliss, but you wont ever be lonely. |
Bob Seger – You'll Accomp'ny Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i agree. i absolutely adore this song. hopefully the person i want to accompany meee digs it too |
Snowden – Anti Anti Lyrics | 18 years ago |
life* they* |
Snowden – Anti Anti Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is actually really sad. these are people who are so disillusioned with live, dreams, anything this life has to offer.. the arent idealists fighting for change OR the old guard still in charge, they're just dropping out of regular society and doing a lot of drugs. and they cant even dance without getting some drugs in them first. so, very sad. good song. |
The Appleseed Cast – December 27, 1990 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
sorry, wrong window. this is for a different song. |
The Appleseed Cast – December 27, 1990 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
kilgore trout is the name of a book by kurt vonnegut. i've never read it but anyone interested in this song go look it up and perhaps itll make more sense |
Say Anything – By Tonight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
haha oh my god drza.. nice reference to bloodhound gang. great song. |
Say Anything – Alive with the Glory Of Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah.. even people in the 30's and 40's liked to have sex, otherwise we wouldnt have come into existence. they were most likely more coy about it but they all 'screwed' and 'did it' so its an appropriate view of it, at least to me.. |
Courtney Love – But Julian, I'm a Little Older Than You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
wow 'phoebe'.. it all makes sense now. thanks for the good analysis.. initially i just thought it was just her being really horny. |
Courtney Love – Sunset Strip Lyrics | 19 years ago |
man, kurt was unbelievably attractive. one of the more memorable dreams ive had was making out with kurt cobain on top of a car. mmm. i know they always talking about courtney murdering him, but she sang a song with hole, a cover, called 'pale blue eyes' and every word was filled with this longing.. you can tell she really loved him. also, several of the lyrics in this song are wrong. im listening to it while reading at a few are real bad, but the general meaning is through. |
Cursive – Art Is Hard Lyrics | 19 years ago |
haha, in response to fetology "i dedicate this song to conor oberst" i loved that. i really do enjoy bright eyes but sometimes all thge mush gets a little too over-overwhelming. |
The Jealous Sound – Anxious Arms Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is certainly about losing your virginity. The girl reassures the guy "don't worry about how its going to be" and he says "i will" and he's anxious and scared, because he was "So unsure (until tonight)" but then, he decides that it's "Strong and pure and know it's right".. its just about all the conflicting and strong emotions losing your virginity to someone you love. |
