Rammstein – Morgenstern (English) Lyrics
|
i figured it out, upon looking it over again, the song is about a man who at first can't bring himself to believe he's in love with this woman who isn't ugly, and upon some kind of revelation, realizes that who she is on the inside is beautiful |

this song is quite beautiful lyrically, a telling of cain and abel's story from cain's side. cain being upset that god accepted abel's gifts, and not his. in anger he kills cain, god casts him. good stuff, awesome song |

agreed, this song is about an "illegal" mexican immigrant who comes to america looking for a better life, but because she's not here "legally" she's forced to work in a sweatshop where she's virtually a slave, eventually she kills herself rather then subject herself to it anymore |

Pink Floyd – Money Lyrics

i think this song is about greed, and people's hypocrisy when they criticize somebody about being greedy. The first two verses are about a guy who's hording all the money and possesions he can, the last line is about the narrator of the song noticing how people can criticize others for keeping so many possesions while the poor suffer, and yet, the people that criticize won't give any of their money to help either. |

Lamb of God – Laid to Rest Lyrics

well, i still think it's at least partly about the mind struggling to free itself from religion, seeing as "the truth shall set you free" is straight out of the bible, and in essence a person gets chained to the "truth" by the things they are taught by religious authorities throughout their lives. regarding the chorus, i think this is a little harder to disect, but i think of it like this, people often feel that god can console themselves, i think that the chorus is somebody speaking to religious person, saying, "look what this thing has done to you, trust me, everything you need is within yourself, you don't need this to get by, you're better by yourself". the next line is like, "look we don't care that this thing is ripping you apart". next line, "keep your problems to yourself, because we honestly can't help you. these are things you've got to figure out yourself, and neither us nor religion can save you." next line is a repeat of the the second. In my opinion this song's anti religious pinnings are fairly obvious, but then again, that's just me |

preps i believe should be welcomed to the scene, just as long as they don't acknowledge bands like blink 182 as being "hardcore punk" because quite simply, they're not. other then that, they should be welcomed, not shunned, isn't that what punk is about? acceptance of that which is rejected? (be it ideals or people) |

oddly enough when i first heard this song i thought the same thing as severthis seeing as i was dealing with my own spiritual problems which i have since put to rest, but i also picked up on the songs real meaning after a few more listens. It was made all the more powerful to me since it reminded me of the feelings I had for someone I lost who was one of the closest to my heart |

again, i said it on another song and i'll say it on this one, it seems that a lot of KsE songs have a very spiritual underpinning. This song appears to be about a person allowing themselves to be reborn, allowing themselves to change, and not letting society hold them down. This song is beautiful, through and through :D |

it's obviously about how the singer can't beat the addiction he's tried so hard to be rid of, and has decided to cry out for help. This is one of the only songs i think that's actually about drugs on the album |

does anybody else know that this is originally a black flag song? i find it strange how it would be covered, but it seems obvious to me that this song is about a person who doesn't understand why their country is trying to fix the problems of the rest of the world when the citizens within have problems of their own |

Lamb of God – As The Palaces Burn Lyrics

i agree with you somewhat, but the true source of war is something far more primal. War is caused by the violence you say? in that case you must say to yourself, what causes violence? simple, as long as somebody else has something that somebody else wants, and the person that wants it has the means to take it, he will. Basically, war is caused by people wanting something that somebody else has, instead of simply sharing, it is taken by force |

the song totally lends itself to the belief that it's about alcohol, as for masterofpuppet's comment, i disagree, lamb of god's sound is completely different from metalcore. and it's quite refreshing to have such aggression from a metal band, something i think that has been lacking in recent years |

Zao – Truly, Truly, This Is The End Lyrics

this song is clearly what it is to live on earth without God (it's relevant for the story the cd tries to tell). in this song, God is long since dead and apparently something happened which his help was needed, but he is no longer alive to help. it therefore, is the end of the world as we know it. or! it could be how a man seeking rest from his pain tries to turn to a god that no longer exists or both O_o |

i don't think it's fair to attack those who have been on the 12 step program, they may not be correct as for the meaning of the song, but let them have their say, and don't attack them for having (or having had) a problem of some sort. the point is, these songs mean something that, while it may or may not be what the song is about (the lyrics suggest the latter) it still touches these people on that level, so don't try to insult the |

i don't understand why some people who just discovered and legitimately like the band (such as myself) should be attacked because they've never heard of them before this particular song. now correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't this a site on which we're supposed to discuss the meanings of songs? not whether or not the band is good or bad based on the amount of money they make?
on that note, i believe this song is about someone lamenting the death of a loved one who they feel wasted their life.
as for my favorite line of the song, i like "for your sake, i hope heaven and hell are really there, but i wouldn't hold my breath."
simply an amazing song |

Well, as a DEP recruit in the U.S. Navy (don't hate me) I find this song quite inspiring, the song more or less calls seamen the soldiers of the sea, regardless of whether or not they kill man or fish. It speaks of the impact of war, and each seamen (or sailor, same difference) must learn to deal with such things. It also speaks how, if it could, the ocean itself would cry for those fallen, on every side |

A Perfect Circle – Pet Lyrics
|
To me, it seems obvious that this song is about the iraq war, or at least the bush administration. First off, think about the lyrics "Stay with me, safe and ignorant". Now remember how the kerry camp, and all the opposers iraq war were painted during the time of the campaign. The lyrics match perfectly, Bush and Cheney often implied that without their leadership, america would be attacked again. That would match the first half of it, i.e. *stay with me, safe...*.It would also match the lyrics, "i won't let the boogeyman come...". Second, the kerry campaign, (as well as other opposition to the Bush war plan) often tried to call the public's attention to things that the Bush campaign tried to draw the public's attention from, such as the weapon's of mass destruction. This would match the latter half of the line "and ignorant...". Now, you could also consider the line "pay no mind to the rabble" as evidence that the song is political in nature simply because the Bush campaign often more or less had a message of "don't listen to them, they're lying", you could also use this as reference for the line "pay no mind to what other voices say, they don't give a fuck about you..." and so on.
And while i could go on, i think i've said enough (i hope) |
