Death Cab for Cutie – The New Year Lyrics 18 years ago
"I wish the world was flat like the old days
then i could travel just by folding a map."

That is such a beautiful line. And I think of it everytime I hear the song. Pretty much the theory of relativity. A beautiful song once again by DCfC.

The Flaming Lips – Do You Realize?? Lyrics 18 years ago
Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die is the truest and most beautiful lyric. The first time I heard this, I had shivers. They have come such a far way from their early albums.

I can't wait to hear the entire album. I'm very excited with this song. Sounds great.

This was the perfect song to follow Cotton Fields. Another great bluesy riff. Great harmonica.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Cotton Fields Lyrics 18 years ago
This has to be by far one of my favorite covers of all time. They do such a good job of bringing the blues feeling into the song. It really sounds as if Leadbetter was playing himself. I consider this in the top 3 songs of this album, and top 5 of all CCR songs. I really hope someone else appreciates this song as much as I do.

Nick Drake – At The Chime Of A City Clock Lyrics 18 years ago
To be completely honest, I don't think I can choose one as my favorite. All albums are truly amazing, even though there were only 3. They are all different in their own way, but magical and inspiring as well. This song is a perfect example of how Nick Drake could write a beautiful song with a beautiful orchestration to back him up.

Chuck Berry – Maybellene Lyrics 19 years ago
One great song once again by Chuck Berry. Got to love the reference to drag racing in the 50s. Fords and Cadillacs. Must have been a good time to drive in those days. Maybellene must have been a sexy gal.

Chuck Berry – Johnny B. Goode Lyrics 19 years ago
I have a feeling this is a semi-auto-biographical work by Chuck Berry. He sure could play that guitar, wow. Great tune.

The Beach Boys – Little Saint Nick Lyrics 19 years ago
A good Beach Boys song written by Brian Wilson. How he found the time to write this song, as long as with all the other hits during the 1960s is beyond anything I can imagine! It just goes to show that in the 60s, there was something, a passion you could say, that motivated musical writers to just deliver hit after hit. I wish I could see that in today's music.

The Beatles – And Your Bird Can Sing Lyrics 19 years ago
This is such an amazing song. One of the best on Revolver. Though, really, which song is not amazing on that album? The chorus is just amazing. The guitar riff, as fleaaaaaa said, is just amazing.

The Beach Boys – Sloop John B Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree with sgrt144. He said it perfectly. Pet Sounds is definitely a brilliant album. I will go even farther and say it is a perfect album, only in competition with The Beatles great albums. It is definitely not whimpy music, though, I can laugh at that.

Funny story. I was walking down the hallway, and had my walkman on listening to this exact song. I'm a bigger (mostly fat) guy, and walk quickly. This makes me look "mean" as some people have said it. Now, picture someone who's big, and looks mean walking toward you, listening to this song. It's quite funny.

The Beach Boys – God Only Knows Lyrics 19 years ago
MountainJew, i do not know where you get your sources, but no where have I ever read that. Anywho, this song is once again a great love tale. It fits perfectly in Pet Sounds and shows Brian Wilson's genius.

The Beach Boys – I'm Waiting For The Day Lyrics 19 years ago
A song that once again really resignates the feelings of many people in their teenage years. In one way, it's a great song about someone who came at the right time to lend a shoulder. On the other hand, it could also be perceived as someone taking advantage of the other. I believe, considering the rest of the Pet Sounds album, that it was the former. The end of this song is just amazing. It picks up quickly and batters out great lines. The last one which says "you didn't think that I could sit back and let you go" almost means that now he has her, and will not let her go even if the other guy comes back. Another perfect song from the Pet Sounds album.

The Beach Boys – Don't Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder) Lyrics 19 years ago
Everyone has already said exactly waht this song is about, and the feelings it touches. Once again, Wilson writes, as he does on all songs on the Pet Sounds album, a perfect tune. Wilson has long said that this is one of his favorite songs, with the line "don't talk, take my hand and listen to my heart beat". It is definitely a great song that more people should know. The Beach Boys are too known for their surfer music. Though, I was guilty of that for a long time, I am very happy I found this album.

The Beach Boys – That's Not Me Lyrics 19 years ago
As said by ChaoesFluro24, this song resignates a lot of what many people feel at the present time in their life, or have once felt. It is once agan a Wilson great which exposes the feelings of a young adult who believes he can do anything and wants to experience everything. This theme fills the Pet Sounds album. Another fantastic and perfect song on the album.

The Beach Boys – You Still Believe In Me Lyrics 19 years ago
Once again, another Beach Boys - Pet Sounds masterpiece. The song is just a perfect example of the feelings of a teenager who is just learning his way in love. It follows the other great song Wouldn't It Be Nice. Pet Sounds, as I said in the Wouldn't It Be Nice comments, was a perfect album, and one that should be heard from anyone. Brian Wilson put his heart, soul and feelings into this song, and the whole album. Just a fantastic album.

The Beach Boys – Wouldn't It Be Nice Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a beautiful song, and one that really starts off one of the greatest records of all time (Pet Sounds). This song can easily relate to anyone who is a teenager, or near their early 20s. The first time I heard this, I fell in love with it immidiately. If you get a chance, you must listen to the rest of the album and truly have the feel of an adolescent. Brian Wilson expresses many feelings of confusion of love and relationship. Just a GREAT album. I'm done now.

The Union Underground – Turn Me On "mr. Deadman" Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree with Muzzy about The Beatles reference. It's clear it has to be. Also, considering The Beatles were the biggest band in the world and EVERYONE was buying their products may help with the whole selling issue in this song. All in all, "Turn Me On Dead Man" is a reference to The Beatles.
