T. Rex – Main Man Lyrics

There is another version with more lyrics . .
including calling out Elton John, "Are you my main man, Elton John?" sounds out of context at first, but then it sounds like he is challenging Elton to declare himself, as though that were necessary . . |

Grateful Dead – Deep Elm Blues Lyrics

another verse:
when you go down to deep elem, put your money in your socks
the women in deep elem, they'll put you on the rocks
this song is about syphilis, i think. that's why the preacher's preaching days are through, because syphilis degenerates your mind, and "sweet mama . . your daddy's got those deep elem blues" i.e. warning. your "daddy" (old blues slang for husband) got it in deep elem & could give it to you |

"The music hall, a costly bow"
The word "holocaust" is hidden in there. I didn't notice this myself, my friend pointed it out to me. This fits with the theme of the destruction and decadence of society. |

Modest Mouse – Space Travel Is Boring Lyrics

I hate to sound drug obsessed, but I have had some times when I've dropped acid and gotten sick of it and wanted to come down but I couldn't (and I haven't dropped acid in 5 years because of that) and I think this song is about that. I love this song BTW and agree with llamas1234 that it is a perfect way to end Long Drive. |
