Definitely the most psychedelic song that The Who ever recorded. One of my favorites from The Who Sell Out.

I love in the video where that girl writes 'Imposter' on the girl's face. This song is just so empowering for me, it makes me feel so happy!!!

The Beach Boys – Good Vibrations Lyrics 19 years ago
I love this song, it's simply excellent! Both Brian's new version on SMiLE and The Beach Boys' original. The lyrics to the new one are a little different. The first verse is:

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears
And she's already working on my brain
I,I only looked in her eyes
But I picked up something I just can't explain

And the second verse is totally different:

I, I bet I know what she's like
And I can feel how right she'd be for me
It's weird, how she comes in so strong
And I wonder what she's pickin up on me

Just in case you didn't know that!!!

The Hives – Walk, Idiot, Walk Lyrics 19 years ago
This is an awesome song! But I've got a question: does anyone know the lyrics to Genepool Convulsions. It's the B-Side fo Walk Idiot Walk on the vinyl single, and isn't on CD or any album, and I can't find lyrics anywhere. If anyone knows the lyrics and could post them, that woudl be awesome

The Who – Behind Blue Eyes Lyrics 19 years ago
The ignorance of CounterfeitSaint's post is obvious. The song was written for the 1971 album Who's Next, about 30 years prior to the porn charges. And, just so people know, Pete actually subscribed to those sites, but his computer shows that he never actually viewed anything on them.

Ramones – Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment Lyrics 19 years ago
Americans don't get punk? The Ramones were American! The Ramones played their first British show with future members of bands like The Sex Pistols, the Clash, The Damned, and others watching. It's The Ramones that pretty much started all mainstream punk.

Ramones – Blitzkrieg Bop Lyrics 19 years ago
I love this song, The Ramones are great!!! Just something I'd like to add: it's been stated before, but The Ramones weren't the first punk group. It would be impossible to tell who was really the first punk group. One of the eralier ones that hasn't yet been mentioned is The Who. I know, I know, they don't sound very punk, but look at the lyrics to My Generation, and you can see that they were definitely anti-establishment. Their song Substitute is considered one of the first punk songs and has been coverded by both The Ramones and The Sex Pistols. And, mods had an influence on punks as well (and The Who started out as mods)

The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Lyrics 19 years ago
Because I enjoy Beatles music as well. I don't have to chat only about my favorite band. It's your opinion that The Beatles are the best, and it's my opinion that the Who are the best. And that Rolling Stoen list is unreputable, because it's all opinion. That's like if I made a list of what i think is the 500 best songs ever, people would tell me it was just my opinion. But if you want to use the RS500 as a source, take this into mind: Hey Jude is the only song ranked higher than My Generation by The Who. That's right, your precious RS500 said that My Generation is better than EVERY SINGLE Beatles song except for Hey Jude.

The Clash – Rudie Can't Fail Lyrics 19 years ago
j0k3r_31 , I can see what you're saying with mods, and that is actually what I was thinking about when I heard this song, even though mds and punks are pretty different (yet very alike in some ways). The song reminds me of Punk and the Godafther by The Who, it seems to be a dialogue between a young person (or young people) and the older people who think they have some kind of power over the younger people. The Who's song had kind of a double meaning, like they were both the punk and the godfather, but this one is awesome too. Don't know about all this Jamaican stuff, but that's the way I see it, doe sit make sense to anybody else?

The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Lyrics 19 years ago
The Rolling Stone list is also a list made up of opinions of other people. I like my opinion and I think yours sucks. Besides, lists and sales of records don't matter. The Ramones first album originally sold less than 500,000 copies, and yet it is one of the most revolutionary albums to ever be released! And I'd liek to know this: were you alive when The Beatles were still putting out records? If you were, then did you buy any of their albums based upon the songs on it, or because it said 'The Beatles' on it? Anyways, the Rolling Stoen list is unreputable as it is all opinion, and there is no actual way to detremine the greatest songs or albums of all time.

The Psychedelic Furs – Pretty in Pink Lyrics 19 years ago
Heaven is by The Psychedelic Furs. This song is great, sort of ruined by the movie, but still good. It's about a girl who gives it up really easily, like really really easily, and all she wants is to be loved.

The Beatles – A Day in the Life Lyrics 19 years ago
I like this song, it's good, I especially like Paul's part. Also, Ringo isn't the best drummer who ever lived. He's good but not that good. It doesn't matter if you nail every note, that doesn't make you the best. You have to have something extra. Keith Moon had it, and he's the best drummer who ever lived.

The Beatles – With a Little Help from My Friends Lyrics 19 years ago
^^That's a good thought about it, makes sense. I have somethign to add to it. Sgt Pepper's LHCB has been around for 20 years, as stated in the title track of the album. Most singers have their voices change over the years, and they can't sing some of the songs they could before. They become vulnerable when before their voices were so powerful. This song shows some of the vulnerability of Billy Shears, whose voice may not be as good as it was when the band started.

The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Lyrics 19 years ago
A_Page06, The Beatles are a great band, no doubt about it. the most commercially succesful band of all tiem, and they made great music. But there were bands who had just as much vision, just as much impact, and just as much talent, if not more.

Plus, on early Beatles tracks, the actual music wasn't that great, ti was only the lyrics and singing that carried them through. If you have a chance, listen to only the instruments on their first couple of albums.

There are bands that did things that were better than what The Beatles did, there are bands who influenced other types of music. I think The Beatles are the second best band in the world, but I think The Who is better.

Although the song The Kids Are Alright by The Who is a direct Beatles rip off, it's the only influence The Who took from The Beatles. The Who influenced all hard rock, the had the best drummer, bassist, and singer ever, and probably the best song writer ever, or close to it. I could go on and on, but I won't.

You can keep your opinion, but really, when it comes to the actual music, pretty much every band was better than The Beatles up until their later albums, where they played better.

Still, The Beatles sold records first because of their voice and looks. Then, once they were popular enough, they sold albums because they were The Beatles, and you can't deny that, it's true.

The Beatles – Hey Jude Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is, as many people have said, is about John and his wife breaking up, and Paul is trying to soothe their son Julian. Hey Julian and Hey Jules didn't work, so they used Hey Jude, not as a combo of Julian and Dude, but as a take on the character Jud from Oklahoma. John thought this was Paul approving his relationship with Yoko.

The Who – Pinball Wizard Lyrics 19 years ago
^^It's not about that at all. Pete wanted a good review from Nik Cohn, a pinball fanatic, so he wrote this song. He thought it was terrible, but everyone else thought it was great. It's all in the liner notes of Tommy. And it's in the movie Tommy.

The Beatles – When I'm Sixty-Four Lyrics 19 years ago
^^Paul isn't dead, it was a hoax. Everyone knows that.

Anyway, I love this song, it's just so happy and cute. It fits in well in the album. After the boredom of Within Without You (the only Beatles song I truly dislike), here comes this cute little love song. I love Paul's voice, he sounds so young when he sings it.

The Beatles – With a Little Help from My Friends Lyrics 19 years ago
I think that Ringo sings this incredibly well. His voice is perfect for it. This is undoubtedly my favorite Beatles tune. As for Ringo being the best drummer, I would have to say that the best drummer was Keith Moon. Ringo is great, but he didn't have that crazy wild passion that Keith had.

A bit off topic, but in The Kids Are Alright (a movie about The Who), Keith Moon and Ringo Starr have many hilarious conversations. If you haven't seen the movie, check it out!

I don't like this song. I think it's like a bad version of the Who's A Quick One While He's Away, except rock legends aren't playing, the story line is different, it isn't funny, and there's no Ivor the Engine Driver. That guy is awesome!

Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song is the equivalent of Pinball Wizard on The Who's Tommy. Just in case you don't know, The Who created the rock opera, and then tons of bands copied it. Anyways, Pinball Wizard was the first single from Tommy and it was totally commercial, designed to get good reviews for the album, and that's how American Idiot is, in my opinion.

Limp Bizkit – Behind Blue Eyes (The Who cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
This can't be about pedophilia since the song was written in the early 70's. It's originally about the villain of a failed project of The Who's called Lifehouse, and how the villain is lonely. Any other interpretation has been pretty much shot own by the person who wrote this song, Pete Townshend. That's right, not LImp Bizkit! Limp Bizkit sucks, and Fred Durst is incapable of singing. Limp Bizkit took out the best part of the song and actually changed the lyrics. Which makes them total idiots! Anyways, Limp Bizkit sucks, and they ruined this originally awesome Who song.

The Who – The Punk And The Godfather Lyrics 19 years ago
This song, to me, means that there is a split between the generations. The Punk is the young person, the godfather the old person. the Godfather tries to tell the Punk that he made it possible for the Punk to do whatever he wants, while the Punk believes that the Godfather is holding him back. Excellent song, one of my favorites.

I'm sure the stutter has a story, but mainly this song is all about mods and their generation, and it tres at every oppurtunity to hook you into the song, with the opening, the hand claps, the stutter, the bass solo, etc. This was supposed to be the mod anthem.
