If there are people out there that understand what he is trying to say, I believe he escaped his cage." -slipknot-metal.com thats a pretty good analasys of it. but i think the 'zero and zero is nohting but zero' part he is trying to say that he's nothing, in the middle of nowhere, and this amounts to nothing. the 'Minus the inside and minus the circle / Inhabit the riddle and fill in the hovel' is the part wheres hes telling us to figure it out. this song really makes me feel really close to corey. when i first listen to it, i was super tired, and i fell asleep with the headphones on, still playing skin ticket. that was when i discovered that when i fall asleep listening to crazy songs like this, it does stuff to me. when i woke up, i was fine for a while, then i just had an emotional breakdown for no reason. i felt super despressed, like there was nothing left in my life, and i kept heard corey singing 'come see my cage- built in my grain' the whole ordeal really freaked me out. but when it was over, i loved SK even more cuz a band that can write a song that controls my emotions like that and make me feel the way skin ticket does, that is an incredibly talented band. |

i agree with dead2self, this is a song about women who stick with guys who beat the shit outta them. the song is about an abusive relationship, from the abusers's pov. the abuser is really controlling ("Your mine (I know who you are)") and ever time she tries to leave him, he gets that puppy-dog look and makes her feel bad about it: "(Don't go) I never wanted any body more then I wanted you" you can just tell by the way corey sings this part. thats mostly wut i think this song is about but then again, it does sound like an extention of Purity. this song has allot of big words in it but when you break it down and translate it, its like this: This sacrament [holy thing] is sacrilege [created unholy] and sentimental [pleasing to the emotions only] Deity experimental; the essential nature of being a god founded on experience so it is definatly about religion. maybe about being in a cult where the worshipee is just doing it to control people. This song also reminds me of a book i read recently, titled "1984". maybe youve heard of it. anyway, it is about this freak future world where everyone is brain washed into worshiping and obeying the government which is run by someone called "big brother" and the song sounds like it could be from the main charector's point of view, who sees what a bunch of bullshit big brother is and he rebels against him by screwing his girl friend a million times (the only way is all the way), which is against the law in that futuristic world. "one wrong move and they will pound" could come from the fact that in the society he lives in, do one wrong thing and your dead. or worse. there are a bunch of other parts of the song that sound like 1984 but my fingers are starting to hurt. |

Ooooooooooo, I love this song! Didn’t pay much interest until I watched a video of them playing it live at the London Astoria, then it was an instant favorite. The guitars are kickass in this song!! There are lots of random screaming and a cool drum solo between the three percussionists. It is about everyone being the same as the next person. The one speaking seems to be complaining about how you have to be just like everyone else to fit in, and that he isn’t like that. He says it in several ways. “I'm just another hard-line pseudo-statistic” which implies that he is a fake, not really another one of the crowd, as others view him to be. Several phrases (”I am all, but what am I? / Another number that isn't equal to any of you”, “I am the damaged one / All my life and the damage done“ and “I’m uneven!”) say that he isn’t right, and he's different. The song is about being imperfect. The name probably comes from the ideas that there is always a defect in the overall plan and that the blister ALWAYS exists. |
