This song is such a beautiful and elaborate metaphor... His breakup seemed like it ended his entire world. He retreated into himself because of how severely he had been hurt. He perseverated on his mental image of his lost love, and feared that if he ventured out into the real world, he wouldn't be able to handle it and would, "explode." However, he realizes in the end of the song that who he was with his last love (his "body") is now gone and that all that's left is the silhouette, or his memories of being with her. I particularly love this song because the music is so hopeful...no matter how hard it is when an intimate relationship ends, you can still move on. *hearts the postal service* |

Andrew is the consummate singer/songwriter, and though SoCo has other amazing songs, this is THE best. Should be on everyone's top ten, at the very least. The line: "this is to a girl who got into my head, with all these fucked up things I did" resonates particularly well with me. *sigh* Nothing is so beautiful or perfect or thought-consuming as a girl you love... |
