The Offspring – Nothingtown Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree about the two friends, but I think it's about them dreaming of leaving wherever they live but not doing anything about it and just tolerating living there. |
Thrice – The Earth Will Shake Lyrics | 16 years ago |
To me the song isn't so much about escaping something as it is of dreaming of the escape. The line "We dream of open gates and no alarms" implies that in the literal meaning the prisoner would be released from jail without needing to escape. Of course most people who dream of escaping things never really follow through with it, or if they do take some time to get the courage to do so. |
Funeral for a Friend – Your Revolution Is A Joke Lyrics | 16 years ago |
To me the song is about looking at the people revolting against the media, the system, whatever you want to call it. People who want to blame something for their loss, and quite frankly laughing at them while they protest. Nothing changes from revolution. |
The Fall of Troy – Caught Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Why would anyone flame you for having an objective opinion on a song? I can see why some people wouldn't like it, it just so happens that I do like the slower more melodic music every once in a while, so this was a welcome surprise to me. |
Armor for Sleep – One Last Regret Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Dubsey pretty much hit the nail on the head. This is the moment before he commits suicide, basically just justifying what he's going to do in Car Underwater. It is essentially a suicide note. |
Paramore – Born for This Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Good song, but what's up with the Refused reference? |
Dan Le Sac VS Scroobius Pip – Thou Shalt Always Kill Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's kind of interesting that everything in this song is "thou shalt not", and at the very end it's "thou shalt always kill". Anyway, still an awesome song. |
My Chemical Romance – Mama Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Kerrang is full of shit. Very haunting song. Reminds me of the holocaust with the style of music throughout the verses and the lyrics. |
My Chemical Romance – I Don't Love You (Like I Did Yesterday) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song sounds very similar to "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Oasis. Still a good song by MCR though, feels a bit different and poppier, but still graphic. |
My Chemical Romance – The Sharpest Lives Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love that lyric "So why don't you blow me, a kiss before she goes". It seems so out of character for Gerard. Great song though, definitely one of the darker themed ones without being too obvious on the new album |
Senses Fail – Shark Attack Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song (Like the rest on the album) ties into the theme of "still searching". Buddy is trying to get some answers for his life and his childhood, and in the end realizes a shrink can't do anything for him but make money off his agony. |
Senses Fail – The Priest And The Matador Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's more. I think the whole album could be about Buddy finding himself and coming to terms with his childhood and family. Still Searching just brings up that kind of subject to me. |
Lostprophets – Rooftops Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To me, it's about living life how you want with no regard (Or more approriately, disregard) for how other people percieve it. To not regret anything you do, as long as it is true to what you believe in. It's not a bad song, but the Prophets can certainly do better than this. Then again, this is just the single. |
NOFX – The Marxist Brothers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah, they used the "When did punk rock become so safe" lyric on that album. I think this song is just a general observation of everyday life nowadays. The line "The people's revolution is gonna be a podcast" kills me. Hybrid cars, ebay and the G8 are what we have to deal with nowadays |
NOFX – The Man I Killed Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Maybe his life doesn't revolve around gaining the respect of strangers on the Internet? Get over it, everyone is allowed to have opinions. When I first heard this though, I immediately though of Dubya. Because after all, it's Fat Mike who wrote the song. |
Transplants – Not Today Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No comments? Oh well, I'll post the first one. Pretty self-explanitory in my opinion. It's all about independance and making your own decisions, and taking responsabilities for them. Awesome song too |
Jimmy Eat World – Nothingwrong Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about the media. It's about the people watching the news and reading headlines about the war in Iraq, and they aren't doing anything wrong, but they aren't doing anything at all. We can't look away from the media as the war rages on, but we're just looking. |
Taking Back Sunday – Error Operator Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Anyone else think this song sucks? |
Finch – Worms Of The Earth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this song. It's a bit more agressive than anything off What It Is To Burn, but not too experimental to be on Say Hello To Sunshine. You have to remember this was the soundtrack for Underworld, so it could have something to do with that. However, I too think it's about the weak standing up against the strong. Maybe to do with classes in society, maybe physically about the weak rising up? |
Jack's Mannequin – Miss Delaney Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Honestly, I have a feeling this could be about an old teacher of Andrew's. I agree with mareh that he found someone who is caught up with someone else. Maybe he's just dreaming of what could happen, and that she'd leave her boyfriend for him |
Fall Out Boy – Champagne for My Real Friends, Real Pain for My Sham Friends Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Did this song used to be called Snitches And Talkers Make Stitches And Walkers? They sound very similar |
Brand New – Soco Amaretto Lime Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Sarah are you retarded or something? Those songs (Seventy Times 7 and There's No 'I' In Team) were written about 5 years ago, and I know for a fact that both bands are over it. In fact I have a video of Jesse singing TNIIT with Taking Back Sunday As for this song, it's pretty obvious what it's about |
Jimmy Eat World – Drugs Or Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It is a story. This, Pain and Polaris are a story of a relationship dealing with one partner's drug addiction. In this song, he's still explaining he needs the drugs and how much he believes they help the pain. But his partner is taking a stand and making him choose |
Jimmy Eat World – Pain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about the effect of drugs in a relationship. "I don't feel the way I've ever felt I know I'm gonna smile and not get worried I try but it shows Anyone can make what I have built And better now Anyone can find the same white pills It takes my pain away" This is about the drug abuser's addiction. He can't hide he has an addiction anymore, and is saying how much he needs it. "It's a lie, A kiss with opened eyes And she's not breathing back Anything but bother me (It takes my pain away) Nevermind, these are hard times Oh, oh, oh I can't let it bother me" This is about the relationship. She is clearly trying to deal with his drug problem, and it isn't working out. She is finding it hard to love him, and all he can think about is the drugs. "I never thought I'd walk away from you I did But it's a false sense of accomplishment Everytime time I quit Anyone can see my every flaw It isn't hard Anyone can say they're above this all It takes my pain away" This again explains his addiction to the drugs. He's tried to quit in the past, but keeps going back to them because he believes they help him. |
Jimmy Eat World – Polaris Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I've started to change my opinion on this song. I now think that it's still the same story that follows on from Pain and Drugs Or Me, but this time he picks the girl. "Can you tell me You say that love goes anywhere In your darkest time, it's just enough to know it's there When you go, I'll let you be But you're kill everything in me" Basically here it says that he and his girlfriend have gone through rough times with his drug addiction, but no matter what happens it's still there. The last to lines explain about the woman's feelings; when she goes he'll be OK, but she's staying around so he has to make the choice and it's hard for him |
The Aquabats – I Fell Asleep On My Arm Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The Rage part of this song is so amazingly funny |
Jimmy Eat World – Polaris Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I still believe this song is about a man's overwhelming addiction to drugs, where he now believes he is in love with the drugs and he actually needs them |
Jimmy Eat World – Shame Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree actually, it does sound like that and it makes a lot more sense. |
Jimmy Eat World – Polaris Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think that Pain, Drugs Or Me and Polaris are a story. Pain is clearly about how drugs can destroy a relationship, Drugs Or Me is about dealing with the drugs and having to decide which to pick, and Polaris is about the person choosing drugs in the end. "In your darkest time, it's just enough to know it's there When you go, I'll let you be But you're kill everything in me" "I feel that when I'm old I'll look at you and know The world was beautiful" I think those 2 lyrics show that he has chosen drugs over his lover. |
