The Who – Won't Get Fooled Again Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Radical liberals should take note of this song and not rue the last election results so much. |
The Who – Baba O'Riley Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The generation The Who sang to wanted change, but did little work towards affecting that change. This song tells them it's time to put the fight behind on them and start enjoying what life has to offer. |
Beastie Boys – Hold It Now, Hit It Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Classic lyrics: Hip-hop, body rockin' - doing the do Beer drinking, breath stinking, sniffing glue |
Beastie Boys – Egg Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song has some great intercut samples that complete the lyrics' rhymes. In addition to the Public enemy samples, there's: Tossed it out the window three minutes hot Hit the Rastaman he said *Good...God!* (I'm pretty sure that's what the Rastaman said; I think it may be a sample from Steven Seagal's "Marked for Death.") And this sample in which a spoken line almost exactly matches the meter of the rhyme: Drive by eggings plaguing L.A. *Yo they just got my little cousin ese* (perhaps from "Colors") |
Beastie Boys – Brass Monkey Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Brass monkey is a mixed dring more or less like Long Island iced tea, but without the tea. Yes, I know there is no tea in LIit, it's just a splash of cola for color. Brass monkey tastes about the same but is yellow-orange. I've bought bottles of it in a liquor store before, but it's pretty rare. That said, it sure does sound like the Beasties are referring to a beer or malt liquor. |
Beastie Boys – Slow Ride Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The Beasties are to rap as the Beatles are to rock. 1986 was not ready for lyrics like these: Because I'm hard hittin', always bitten, cool as hell I got trees on my mirror so my car won't smell Sittin' around the house, gettin' high and watchin' tube Eating Colonel's chicken, drinkin' Heineken brew ...even though the third line was bitten from Steve Miller Band's "Take The Money And Run." |
Beastie Boys – Paul Revere Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I must have known about 25 people when this song was new who could recite every single line. This should be a college football team's fight song. |
Elton John – Someone Saved My Life Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Perhaps this refers to the man who saved his life by helping him find his true sexuality, rescuing him from a life with the opposite sex, which he wasn't truly meant for. |
2 Live Crew – The Fuck Shop Lyrics | 19 years ago |
How can one not like a song that starts with the guitar riffs from"Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love?" |
Public Enemy – Fight the Power Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, Rosie Perez poppin' and lockin' to the PE is a helluva way to start a movie. This song made me respect John Wayne and Elvis Presley less. I think the U.S. postal service started honoring more people of various races because of this song, too. |
Beastie Boys – Intergalactic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"Another dimension." Damn, I wracked my brain and ingested all kinds of intoxicants and I could never figure out what the f@$k the vocorder was saying. |
Beastie Boys – Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song has the most awesome breakdown ever recorded: Looking down the barrel of a gun Son of a gun son of a bitch Getting paid getting rich (split second of silence and then cue in drumroll and micro-guitar stab from "Mississippi Queen") Incidentally, does anyone know what the other 2/3 of the Beastie Boys says for this line?: Fuzzy navel y'all making me see red It seems like each member says something different before "making me see red." |
Public Enemy – 911 Is A Joke Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Flava Flave is the second funkiest man alive. |
LL Cool J – I'm Bad Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song made me switch from Oreos to Cool J cookies. |
LL Cool J – Rock The Bells Lyrics | 19 years ago |
These are not the lyrics to the "Rock the Bells" I know and love as LL's first single. The song begins; Been waitin' and debatin' for oh so long Just starvin' like Marvin' for a Cool J song Maybe these are from "Rock the Bells 2000" or something. The one released in 1985 or so had awesome lyrics, particularly good for the then-17 year-old LL: 'Cuz these ain't the Glory Days of Bruce Springsteen I'm not a virgin so I know I'll make Madonna scream You hated Michael and Prince all the way ever since And if these beats were made of meat then they would have to be minced... Rock the Bells! |
Beastie Boys – Hey Ladies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Sounds good, monkey. I never saw the song in that light before. I also never noticed this line before: "I took off her mocassins and put on my bib" Hilarious. |
Beastie Boys – 5-Piece Chicken Dinner Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My favorite country song, except maybe for "Mule Skinner Blues." |
The Beatles – Strawberry Fields Forever Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Dominic Monaghan, Merry in "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and Charlie on ABC's "Lost," has "Living is easy with eyes closed" tattooed on his left arm. CB2001 - What scene in "Vanilla Sky?" Pretty please? |
Front 242 – Crushed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Pretty standard lost love song, with the singer toughening up by the end. I love the pitch shifter he uses on his voice; few people believe that it's not a woman singing the song. |
Front 242 – Tragedy For You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The bitch gave him herpes. |
Front 242 – Headhunter Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I can buy it as a criticism of capitalism, in that it is an indictment of corporate hiring practices. The synthesized digeridoo that makes up the bassline is one of my favorite instrument sounds ever. |
