The Shins – Phantom Limb Lyrics 17 years ago
why doesn't a moderator or admin clean up these comments? It seems like every other one is about lyric changes (isn't this site songMEANINGS.net).

I realize the lyrics were posted before the album was realeased, but now that it is, the lyrics are in teh album cover and there should be no ambiguation.

sorry, it's a pain in the ass figuring what type of comment i'm reading, one about lyric changes or one about the actual song.

thanks

The Mountain Goats – You or Your Memory Lyrics 18 years ago
His addiction/problem/experiemntation? with drugs. At the store he bought 'St. Joesph's' (Brand Name) baby aspirin and 'Bartles and Jaymes' (a wine cooler drink...spelled wrong in the lyrics...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartles_%26_Jaymes). There's someone else he's thinking about though, "you or your memory". He understands what he did was wrong, and if he makes it through the night he'll change his ways.

Wow. Overanalyzing lyrics is stupid. Forget this. Just take them for what they are. I was moreso

The Mountain Goats – Lion's Teeth Lyrics 18 years ago
No...Shotgun: Front Passenger's Seat. The 'king of the jungle' was asleep in his car. He 'crawled in shotgon...' I don't really even think it's a play on words to suggest he was also holding a gun to his mouth.

But yea, I agree it's about his Dad.

The Police – Synchronicity II Lyrics 18 years ago
food for thought: "Synchronicity is the theory that seemingly coincidental events are connected through their meaning. Psychologist Carl Jung created the term as a way to explain paranormal events." ~ Songfacts.com

I feel the coincidences in this song are the stress the father is undergoing and the pollution of the lake, each of which have a sort of "evil rising up."
Sting makes it even more appearent with the line "Many Miles Away." Though these events are happening many miles away, they are infact connected: Synchronicity

My band played a Police Field Show this year. Pretty cool though some songs weren't included that I thought would have been cool.

Dave Matthews Band – Hello Again Lyrics 19 years ago
To figure it out just read the lyrics. It's about a regretful guy who is recollecting the murder of his wife (or perhaps lover) and sinking her in a lake. It makes so much more sense that way. About the green river killer that antsmarching.com posted, i haven't read. But Antsmarching.com is very valid source. It may easily be about the green river killer however, i'm simply boiling the lyrics down. Sillybunny makes an interesting (and a bit confusing) tie to the album. I can believe that too seeing how stand up is one of two albums that flows so much (or is so connected rather)

Good Charlotte – I Just Wanna Live Lyrics 19 years ago
It wouldn't bother me that they would take the riff from watchtower, it's just that most people who listen to their music haven't appreciated musicians like Dylan or Hendrix...or Dave...Most are il informed or not culturally aware of other music to make connections to other works.

Also..."Stop your messin' around?..better think of your future?" ..sounds like "a message to you" that 'the specials' did in the 70's...i knew that line didn't fit this song. The Specials were so kick ass...

To the people who say Good Charolette hasn't gone pop, i'd agree. To the people who say GC isn't punk, I'd agree. I feel they've created a new genre of their own: "ass"

All in all, I can still appreciate their music for what it is though. They do bring on a different sound.

Cheers
