White Zombie – More Human Than Human Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Think about it... You are human. If you are what you eat, wouldn't you become More Human than Human? Just a thought. |

Ah MarshmallowPeep, though Dante's Divine Comedy may not be the most romantic work, it was most definitely not his only one. He wrote several books, including Convivio, and La Vita Nuevo in which he describes his undying love for a girl named Beatrice which follows Tangled Up in Blue somewhat closely. |

Barenaked Ladies – One Week Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Whew, this may take a while... Aside from the obvious pop-culture references in the song, there are several lesser known parts. In the first verse: "You’ll think you’re looking at Aquaman" is a reference to a really crappy superhero that really had no worthwhile superpowers. The third and fourth verses are the most interesting because they demonstrate how we allow so much of our society to be captivated by television and advertising. He actually compares himself to Harrison Ford, Sting and Snickers, all television icons in one way or another. He also makes reference to Sailor Moon, Akira Kurasawa, those golf clubs that are always advertised, and the X-Files, all related to TV. At the beginning of the third verse, they say: "Chickity China the Chinese chicken You have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin I believe that this is actually a reference to the poultry scare in China where, at the time of this writing, people were dying a few days after eating the infected poultry (Hence, "Your brain stops tickin'"). This was all over the news, which is also on TV. Whew. |
