Starland Vocal Band – Afternoon Delight Lyrics 19 years ago
this song makes me giggle. i have a good memory on a beach with it. i think its about not being able to wait until night time, or the proper time, to make love/have sex with the person you are with. its about thinking about them while you're trying to do other things until you just cant take it and you just go for it. i like it :)

Taking Back Sunday – Great Romances of the 20th Century Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song takes place right after a break up or a fight of some sort. I get the feeling that the girl, for whatever reason, give excuses all the time and he's just been taking them and trying to be sympathetic to her problems, but at a certain point he is just "running out of sympathy" for her. He's tired of just accepting what she says and doesn't want to just be so passive anymore; he says "i never said i'd take this lying down," showing how he is sick and tired of the excuses.

I think the "this wont' mean a thing come tomorrow" quote can mean two things. The first one being in a break up situation. He's trying to convince himself, and maybe her too, that the end of the relationship isn't the end of the world to him and he can live on. Deep down he knows that this isn't true because hes going to try and "make it seem" ok. If this song just takes place after some time she gives an excuse I think it can be him trying to tell himsef that one more excuse, although it makes him angry now, will seem trivial the next day. Of course he knows this isnt true but hes trying to convince himself.

I'm not 100% sure what I think the "lets just get this over with" and the "you always come close but you never come easy" lines are refering to. Of course my first thought IS sex, but i'm really not sure. Is that the correct form of the word "come" anyway, to say it has something to do with orgasming? I'm just not sure what else it could be refering to, other than just wanting to get a fight over (the "lets just get this over with") or that she never really emotionally commited herself like he wanted her to (which also supports the "if its not keeping you up nights, then whats the point?" line)

but either way i really love this song, from the lyrics to the music to the way adam and john sing it. beautiful.

Live – All Over You Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it is intersting that the love is said to be like water, and yet people try to pin it down and abuse it - you can't abuse water, it just moves out of the way, and you surely can't pin it. Is he trying to say that other people's efforts to stop the relationship are futile? And yet, still the relationship is not all that great because he is alone. I'm not exactly sure what this song is trying to say. Also, why does he say "pay me now"? Pay what? Help..please :)

Damien Rice – Woman Like a Man Lyrics 19 years ago
i think this song is about how women have some of the same thoughts/feelings that men do, even if most people don't realize it. this woman wants to have emotionless, meaningless sex like men do. it seems 'vulgar' b/c its women the song is talking about and women aren't usually viewed as looking at sex like that. i think its an awesome topic and glad someone isnt afraid to talk about how some women love sex and enjoy like men do.

Tom Petty – Breakdown Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song is about a guy wanting to have sex with a woman who is reluctant. He says "Breakdown honey take me through the night" - to have sex with him throughout the entire night. He also says he doesn't care if she loves him or not because it doesn't matter -- its just sex to him. I don't think its about a desire to be emotionally connected with someone at all.

The Honorary Title – Anything Else But The Truth Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song is about two people who shouldn't be together but keep trying.

First, he describes them being together as an "awkward act." He also says "the chance to make it last has come and gone," so they screwed things up in the past and there isn't a chance that they can make everything like it was.

To me "Glass shatters with an unsteady grip
No chance to catch the blood as it comes rushing in
Too quickly pumping out from the inside
Dripping into the patterns strewn across my thigh" means that something damaged their relationship (their relationship being the glass). Once damaged it caused injury to both of them (cutting of an arm) and they were both kept hurting each other, drawing blood. The blood that keeps flowing out and can't be stopped resembles this.

Two years after that the damage is done to their relationship she thinks there is still something there; maybe they never officially ended things or did so in a dubious way. He doesn't want to be with her but he has trouble telling her. Even though she doesn't think its over I think she's not REALLY in it like you would think. He describes her lips as "passionless" - not exactly a way to describe someone who is entirely into a relationship.

Finally, now that it is over he's glad to be free from trying over and over again and being trapped into things with her.

sorry if i am completely wrong. i tried to go chunk by chunk :)

The Honorary Title – Petals Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song is about a man who tries to patch things up with the one he is with but it doesn't work out (thus the roses that are broken). He begins to realize that maybe his time with her wasn't that important to him after all (he'll 'soon forget') and he has hardened his heart to the things she says to try and hurt him. She can't get to him any more because he simply doesn't care.

i adore this song...

i think this song is about a girl who can't decide between two guys. He is trying to win her love but is beginning to wonder why he's doing all of this for someone who may not even want to be with him in the end. "Prepare myself for a war And I don't know what i'm doing this for Trying to let it all go But how can i when you still don't know?" shows his insecurity in investing his time and emotions in her. It also shows his inability to let her go even though he knows she may pick the other guy.

sorry if i am completely off...lol...

Damien Rice – Silent Night Lyrics 19 years ago
I was just always curious what "You found some love for me
Thinking I'd go" meant. I was thinking that it meant that when he realized that she was actually leaving he found feelings for her again, but im not sure. Any thoughts? Thanks :)
