Grandaddy – Jed's Other Poem (Beautiful Ground) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
quntomytemple - i don't believe jason was making fun of beck? he says 'try to sging it funny LIKE beck'. seems to me that's the way he's trying to sing and because he can't it's slowly bringing him down.. In many interviews grandaddy have made reference to beck and how great he is anyway so i'm positive there's no negativity intended. |
Grandaddy – Lost on Yer Merry Way Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think this and many other grandaddy songs seem to have this collective theme about getting back home.. I think this could be simply due to the amount of touring the band does and them missing their home land which they're obviously very passionate about. imajar; to me it's the time alone in peace in your comfortable place that the band seem to be depriving in this song, and the mortality thing - well i think their views are highly outlined in 'ok with my decay' |
Les Savy Fav – Crawling Can Be Beautiful Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it actually sounds more like.... ' there was a sus-successful someone insa-side of me, and i do believe although 'shift me' makes more sense, it still sounds like shifty? |
Les Savy Fav – Who Rocks The Party? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I’m pretty sure it's body, not bunny. when I saw them live it felt like I was the only one who knew the lyrics, everyone else was just chanting ' who rocks the party that rocks the party party '.. it was so annoying being a long-term fan of this band and all the poser half-wits around you can't even sing a line correctly. |
Lambchop – My Face Your Ass Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's like poetry, then the chorus comes in... the most unexpected lyrics you could possibly envisage? such a totally amazing song. |
Beulah – Burned By The Sun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
quite possibly the catchiest song ever written, simple but beautiful lyrics, what more could you ask for in a song. |
Liars – Broken Witch Lyrics | 19 years ago |
salsafetish;- i dunno what the deal is with the bear, but go listen to their song ' you know i hate stupid phones ' .. they also reference a bear, completely random but equally as fun! |
Les Savy Fav – Tragic Monsters Lyrics | 19 years ago |
am i the only one who thinks this song fucking rocks! the breakdown part in the middle is so cool |
The Dillinger Escape Plan – Jim Fear Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the lyrics to me are a little silly, but i guess sadly true, not many bands really write lyrics like this! but this is one of my fav dep numbers, the guitar work is amazing. |
Beck – We Live Again Lyrics | 19 years ago |
quite possibly one of my all-time favourite songs.. it's so outstanding in every way.. does a more catchy/lovely melody exist? |
Grandaddy – Stray Dog and the Chocolate Shake Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I can't remember the exact wording but i read and interview or article with Jason and he mentioned that he always wanted to write a song that had heaps of different statements that weren’t really cohesive or didn’t concatenate in anyway but had a nice play of words that flowed well. Damn nice song. |
Grandaddy – Chartsengrafs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
" Yeah I traded laughs In for chartsengrafs But all of that's only fun Until evening comes " These four lines indicate to me that some business person has spent so much of his life studying and working towards a goal he really doesn’t enjoy life outside of working hours because he's lonely (or something). In lieu of the boredom, he loses his mind by night.. How I’m not really sure! But maybe the depressing lifestyle he lives drives him to do crazy things by night! |
Grandaddy – Collective Dreamwish of Upperclass Elegance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is so great! Lyrics are plain and simple. You can tell from this song and a few others how much Grandaddy really appreciate the simple Country life. I guess everyone out there can relate to just wanting to get back home to a place they feel comfortable. I think it's great the way Jason pushes this topic and speaks so passionately of a lifestyle so many average city folk would resent, living out in the middle of nowhere. I wonder if others in Modesto feel this strongly about this town. |
Grandaddy – Jed The Humanoid Lyrics | 19 years ago |
poor jed, damn you new inventions. |
Wilco – A Shot in the Arm Lyrics | 19 years ago |
About a herion addiction. The repetition of the phrases really emphasizes the severity of the addiction. The song ends on the lines ' What you once were isn't what you want to be anymore ' Seems like he's trying his hardest to overcome the addiction and move on. Such a damn good song though! |
Grandaddy – Nonphenomenal Lineage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
' Nonphenomenal Lineage ' to me seems as if this person was born into the world and hasnt found their passion or gift in life. The way it's worded sounds like there's some rejection involved. I wonder if these lyrics have anything to do with the bands approach to writing music and if they don't write 'media friendly' material they feel like they're rejected in the industry and therefore don't get a fair go. |
Grandaddy – The Group Who Couldn't Say Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Group of Entrepreneurs winning a trip out to the country side and are amazed at the likes of what they've missed over the years. This song sends a great message to anyone too busy working in offices to stop, look round and think about what else is out there once in a while. And the sprinklers that come on at 3 am Sound like crowds of people asking "Are you happy what you're doing?" Such powerful lyrics, dont they make you question yourself. |
Grandaddy – The Go in the Go-For-It Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Seems to be about the way the media percieves Grandaddy. "when they expected that they instead got this- the broken but pretty mess what they care i could care less" Self explanatory - Grandaddy don't care what the media are saying, good or bad, they just do what they love and that's the way it's gonna stay.. one of the many things i love about this band. |
Grandaddy – Summer Here Kids Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the line ' Summer Here Kids ' & note to british media (kids is NOT a noun) represents maybe a metaphoric place that isnt all it's cracked up to be. Imagine if you see a commercial on TV, ' Come to this tourist destination, you'll have a wonderful time ' and you get there, and don't enjoy it at all. In a metaphoric sense i think this idea is what Jason was trying to capture, but I do believe it's meant to be a rather vague topic that could be seen many ways. I think the Summer reference to Grandaddy probably relates to a lot of the hyped scenes, places, music and lifestyles that they see and hear about going on in the big cities and community that they (being country folk) just arent interested in and don't want to be a part of - therefore that lifestyle ' kids '. the end lines ' I'm not having a good time ' sticks in your head. HOW GOOD IS IT, makes you start to question yourself.. are you having a good time? are you being honest with yourself? |
Grandaddy – For The Dishwasher Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Awesome song. Would be in the top 3 all time fav grandaddy songs. Just a simple melody that's so catchy and lovely. |
Grandaddy – The Crystal Lake Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the crystal lake is where they recorded the sophtware slump.. the lyrics are fairly self explanatory. Another song based round modern vs country folk, i suppose you can interperate these lyrics differently but the main message i get from these lyrics is that ' somewhere far away from where the average modern-day people's lives are based is a beautiful place that they're too pre-occupied to ever see and that being happy and successful doesnt mean working on wall street or in some well paid city job ' Great Great Song. Jason rocks. |
Liars – Mr. Your on Fire Mr. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
do the twist, it's for ice cream cmon dance, Insurrection you cant teach new tricks to blue jeans from memory that's what i thought.. then again it's damn hard to tell. |
Liars – Broken Witch Lyrics | 19 years ago |
just reading over that quickly.. isnt it " men have small hearts " ? in reference to the fact horses have big ones. |
Les Savy Fav – Adopduction Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My favourite Les Savy Fav song. From memory i think this song was based on a dream harrington had one night. Whether or not this holds any real truth to harringtons relationship with his parents, i think people out there can definately relate to these lyrics. PS - Aren't his play of words, phrases and rhymes just outstanding! (this goes for all LSF songs) |
Les Savy Fav – Hold on to Your Genre Lyrics | 19 years ago |
to me it seems tim's talking about artists or people in general being faithful to their passion for music or life in general. People liking something or acting a certain way for popularity or reasons that arent geniune. Take all the ' the ' bands who've come on board lately, twisting their style to suit what's cool at the time.. the last 4 lines of this song are killers. |
