Sonic Youth – Schizophrenia Lyrics

The meaning is ridiculously obvious, it's so blunt. Geez. Anyone can interpret it, stop trying.
I love this song more than I love... small children. |

The Decemberists – The Mariner's Revenge Song Lyrics

I like how Colin makes the narator eventually lose his mind to his obsession with revenge. He obsesses so long over it that it becomes part of him, and he personifies this trait of him with his mother. His mother is his other personality, as he is skitzephrenic. It's truely wonderful. (See: the tenth paragraph, second line) |

The Blood Brothers – My First Kiss at the Public Execution Lyrics

To add to what's been said,
The carnival's glossy ghosts
zebra-painted horses parade
the cotton candy prostitutes
caramel apple corpses singing:
"Just this way to the neon orange gallows!
Tonight we tie the noose around the killer's collar!
Watch him play his wind pipe organ!"
completely glamorizes all of this apparent wrong. Anyways, I always think of this grand carnival where everyone's dancing and cheering and woohoo like they cheered the death of the martyrs and gladiators at the Coleseum.
I definitely agree with kittyNAR and everone else. |

The Bootleg series version of this is really what made me truely fall in love with Bob Dylan. I liked him a lot; after hearing the bootleg version, I loved him. |

to add to what rdagger (whom I agree with most) is saying, the Lumberjacks in this song are the media, on more than one. They cut people down, and they cut trees down for their paper. Very amazing metaphor from our boy Bob. |

jmujkano, what you said would be true if he hadn't released every album he released prior to Sea Change. But he did.
Anyways, if you haven't listened to Odelay or ignore that Odelay exists, this is a great song. It's very groovy. |

...I think the second verse is about presidential elections and such. Everyone's listening to the news and seeing who to vote for (the news is telling them to who to vote for) And they celebrate their choice and amplify it.
The rest of the song is about his new sound. The nintendo sound... (awesome sound)

I think it's more like, "don't dwell on the past, because it's a beautiful day, and you're still sad because of that." |

second favorite on the album.
Thing that you want ‘cept I started seeing Jenny:
I started seeing Jenny.
My Jenny?
And he looked down at the floor.
You know damn well she ain’t your Jenny no more.
And I said Get her on the phone.
Don’t you think it’s a little late?
No I don’t think it’s a little late.
I love that dialogue; and I also love Matthew and Lenore's dialogue towards the end. So clever! |

Sigur Rós – Untitled 1 Lyrics

this song is the most depressing song I've ever heard in my life, but it's also the most beautiful song I've ever heard in my life, too. Full of meaning and metaphors--even if there are no words in it.
Sigur ros is one of the only bands who can pull that sort of thing off: making a song with no lyrics have meaning. |

Radiohead – Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors Lyrics

This song is awesome. One complaint, though. The end has basically the exact same ending as Pyramid Song, the song before it on the album. It's just cut up. It's not in the right place on the album. The lyrics are very simple, but seem to be very very deep. Great interpretation Drealoth! |

--No wait. Scratch that. I think it's about a girl who had a strong crush on him and he didn't realize it. She tried to tell him, but he didn't hear her. (second verse) So she got so upset she killed herself. |

Bob Dylan – One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later) Lyrics
| 19 years ago

I think this song is about a girl that he (the narrator) has had a long relationship with, then he sinced it was ending (or started to have feelings for another girl.. or was cheating on her) so he broke up with her. Then she was so sad she killed herself. The chorus is kind of the narrator rationalizing his actions or looking at it from her side of the story. |
