P.O.S. – Never Better Lyrics
|
This is a motivational song, telling the listener that the time has come to do something bold to reach your goals and not fall into complacency.
"Every never is now" means that everything that "never" happened ("Never people in place", "Never fill in the blanks", "Nothing ever gets done") become "now" - now the people in are place, now it's time to get things done.
The song also warns to not become a slave to your situation and mocks those who brag about their superficial accomplishments: "Nothing's better than aiming at nothing and hitting your mark" and "Skipping the change, keeping the fool's gold".
Anything but forward is a waste of time. |

B.o.B – Airplanes Part 2 Lyrics
|
Great song. Where the first "Airplanes" is about wishing that he was back in a simpler, more innocent time, "Airplanes, Part II" looks at success from the point of view of someone who is already successful, thinking about what their life would be like if they never made the choices or had the life that got them where they are today.
Eminem's verse hits this theme hard, saying that if you spend all your time never taking risks and acting like things are just going to fall into your lap, then you'll never get anywhere and you'll just keep on wishing on 'airplanes' instead of making your dreams come true by yourself. |

The Maine – I Wanna Love You (Akon cover) Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
In the original song, Snoop Dogg says "D-O double G" (his name which always recites), and then "and I'm here to put this dick on you" (which is pretty self-explanatory).
The Maine's version censors the song, somewhat. |

David Cook – Mr. Sensitive Lyrics
|
This is what David said it was about in that EW interview with Chris Willman...
Was the title of "Mr. Sensitive" meant to be ironic in any way?
David: The song was unintentionally ironic. I had the harmonic riff in my head for five months. In my lyric journal, I had "Mr. Sincere" written down, and sincere turned into sensitive. I wanted to write about something outside myself and get a little metaphorical. He lives in a village devoid of feeling. They get so afraid of this child who has feelings that they kill him. It kind of took on this Tim Burton-like, twisted vision of James and the Giant Peach for me. But I know people look at me as that sensitive guy. |

yal1091 - The correct line is "How did you erase all but gorgeous from your face." He says 'but' if you listen carefully, and it goes with the lyrics about how he'll one day be so amazing that people will be blown away. |

Marianas Trench – Alibis Lyrics

Having just heard this song for the first time, the song doesn't necessarily have to be about bulimia, but you can put that interpretation on if you want.
To me it sounds like he's disappointed in himself and what he's become. It's gotten to the point where he's lying to others about who he is ("all my faces are alibis".) |

Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics

I actually think the apple juice line fits perfectly. When you're depressed like that, you start to think about the little things, those tiny actions, and suddenly they're such big things, and think "maybe if I didn't do that, then things would be different." |

Linkin Park – Valentine's Day Lyrics

This is about the death of a lover. At first it seems like a broader situation of a lover leaving, but the lines "the ground below grew colder / as they put you down inside" makes it pretty clear. |

"Yeah I got some last words, FUCK ALL OF YA'LL!
Stop writin' raps and go play volleyball"
Pretty much the best rhyming couplet in history. This song gets me pumped, especially when the beat kicks in. |

The first time I heard this song, I thought he was saying "I got this Xbox where my heart used to be." That'd be pretty sweet, you could play Gears of War through your eyeballs. |

Anberlin – Godspeed Lyrics

"They lied when they said the good die young."
Consider the lyric in the Billy Joel song, "Only The Good Die Young." That song is about a Catholic girl who is pressured into having pre-marital sex, and includes the lyrics:
"They say there's a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it's better but I say it ain't
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
Sinners are much more fun."
I believe the message in Godspeed, is to dismiss the idea that the sinners live better, more exciting and adventurous lives. That idea is just a lie, and the truth is that the good people, who don't succumb to society's decadent temptations, are the ones who will really lead the most fulfilling and satifsying lives.
With that said, this song absolutely rocks. |

Dead Poetic – Molotov Lyrics
|
The name "molotov cocktail" is from the Russian name Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov, a Soviet politician who was the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs.
Before WWII, when Finland refused to surrender some land to the Soviet Union, the Soviets invaded. The Finnish Army, facing Red Army tanks, borrowed an improvised incendiary device from the Spanish Civil War.
When Molotov claimed in radio broadcasts that the Soviet Union was not dropping bombs but rather delivering food to the starving Finns, the Finns started to call the air bombs satirically "Molotov picnic baskets". Soon they responded by saluting the advancing tanks with "Molotov cocktails."
^ Paraphrased from Wikipedia. It has little to do with the song, however... |

Discover America – Call It In The Air Lyrics

Yeah, it's about making a decision. The name of the song comes from sports, where two teammates are under a ball they have to catch. One of them has to "call it in the air" and make the decision to be the catcher, or else they'll probably collide and not catch anything. |

This is the song you play when you get every card she sent you, every photo of you and her together, and every soppy love letter she gave you... then shred them up, put them in a can, soak it with meths, light a match and watch it shrivel up and turn into ashes under the flames. |
