This song is not about taking drugs to be someone else. The singer of the band, Jeff Tweedy had to go on medication because of a condition he has. This song, and most of the album, is about him taking this medication. My favorite line of the song "and if I ever was myself, I wasn't that night" just goes to say how he wasn't himself on that medication. |

I like this song much more than Anthems for a Seventeen -Year Old Girl. I love it's groove. It does drag on for a bit near the end. Definitely one of the best tracks released in 2004.

It's also my favorite song off Antics. It seems it's not one of the most popular ones though.
I think the lyrics aren't too obscure: it's about how far someone can go for love. He went too far and he has to get bnacl to "his friends in need". The "complex salacious removal" is him saying no to sex.
The second verse about about wanting "strong summer love", something that he sees in teenagers maybe? |
