i think that no one btu Syd can truely understand the song and even then i dont think he gets it fully. its just one of those things that u cannot slap a meaning on. it goes deeper than that. its true human feeling of lonelyness and iscolation. and unless uve been ther u have no idea. |

this is my song of hope. i know its cheesy but it really is. i really disagree with the relationship metaphor theory. if u actuallt listen to the reat of the album there are alot of refrences to leaving town. i tihnk that alot of people can realte to this song because everyone has wanted to leave ther home town atleast once. especially is u live in a small town where everyone knows everyone else, everyone wants to atleast explor the world beyond their ouw. even tho most of them end up back where they started, suberbia hell |

Less Than Jake – Plastic Cup Politics Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
the song is about the party scene and how "fake" people drown their self in beer and pretend to have an opinion on things like poiltics. the fake people get drunk, have fake conversations and leave just as fake as they came.
another way it could be interpurted is applying it ot high school. or at least the one i go to. all the fake people go out, get drunk, and back-stab their best friend. and back-stabing is the birth place of politics. these people rely on the confidence booze gives them to get through the weekend. they never are truely thinking clean and by the time they "drop your plastic cups and clear your clouded heads" they have nothin left but a hangover and the plans for next weekends drunken get-togeth.

i hate it when people say the a band has sold out as soon as they get noticed. did u expect them to play clubs forever when the acutally have a chance to spread the messeage? that is waht punk is about. its about haveing a voice and being an individual and is nofx has a chane to get that message to peolple who otherwise wouldnt be exposed to stuff like that, then i say all the better for nofx. the earned it |
