PlanetarumVagatio - stop callin' 'em fags and people might like your religion more"

hahahahaha. So true. Yes; calling me a fag really demonstrates God's love and his followers' compassion. I mean, I'm beginning to think this is more than I can handle.

Truly.

That said, I'm not as anti-religious as I once was. I've developed a kind of admiration for different kinds of progressive, open-minded religious people whose social paradigm is progressive and modern. I speak of those kinds who freely revere a personal god as opposed to those kinds who proceed from the dictates of popular authority.

In fact, a very real part of me wishes to return to religion in one form or another. However, my inhibition is that it would basically be worthless. I don't believe in a personal god because I am a materialist, albeit a reluctant one. Atheological religious persuasions are even less useful, as all they would do is make me an ideologue.

Yet I can say that if I were to return to a religious persuasion, it might be a kind of paganism. Yet Christianity, though, isn't entirely unpalatable at all. One condition, however, is that it is not Catholicism. I retain every ounce of antipathy for the Catholic Church I've ever expressed. I do not see this changing at all in time.

Yes; I will admit that was a bad and misinformed comment. Their stance on birth control measures creates a partiality for males, who now have an unhealthy majority. This imbalance can predictably lead to things like higher crime rates, as there will be fewer women for the taking and thus more disadvantaged males.

Actively campaigning against the legality of gay unions, which, in many cases, are vital to a relationship's ability to exist in the practical world, as well as even the very existence of these relationships certainly constitutes hatred in my definition. The Catholic doctrine mandating life-long abstinence for its gay members is nothing short of demoralizing.

Dick + Ass = Pleasure. Don't you see? Why else is the anus sensitive other than for pleasure's sake? I know God's will, dude. And I know He designed it this way. Don't bother arguing with me. I can't believe you straight people haven't figured this out yet: heterosexual sex continues the species, homosexual sex is for indulgence, because, you see, that's what god wants. He wants it. It's so fucking simple!

I'll stop being flippant now and ask you how that isn't just as valid the conclusion you made? The mechanisms which we employ don't have some ontologically objective purpose. We use them when most convenient. If we were designed by a higher being, then that being didn't intend us to use our ears to listen to music, but rather for necessary means exclusively.

Maybe you should discontinue using the internet, if god had intended that for humanity, he'd have given us a computer with internet access at birth. You sitting here doesn't "produce" anything. Leisure doesn't "produce" anything. Accusations of nonproduction constitute hypocrisy if one wishes to use their life for any means other than selfless slavery.

And thank you Pakana_Sielu for forgiving me and not vilifying me. I was indeed an ass back in 2004; not really afraid of my nature per se, just too eager to make my stance known to, argue with, and belittle others. I'm still a bit guilty of that (perhaps even on this song a bit too much), but I'm coming around. :)

So, I, too, apologize if that last post came off as too vehement, ButNeverOutgunned. I need anger management. :)

Being gay is now not only a choice but it's also cliché? If you think people choose homosexual lifestyles to be rebels.....wow, meet some gay people please.

"'Preaching' your rhetoric and half truths like they are gospel!"

LOL! Look who's talking! I actually started my paragraph there off with "I believe," after which I offered proof for this belief. You come off dogmatically asserting homosexuality as a choice, devoid of proof of course.

The way I like to look at it is that the "father" symbolizes all that's domineering about our society as well as social construct. The "mother" represents all indulgence and beauty in life. Once you kill the father......you're free to fuck the mother. Jim was a genius.

"You can really get it into your head just repeating the slogan over and over:"

kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother, kill the father, fuck the mother...

*sigh* "homosexuality is a choice" my ass. I'm gay, and I did not choose this. Nor do I resent it. In fact, I'm quite glad about it.

I believe homosexuality is the result of anomalous child bearing while the child is in the womb. One of the most convincing proofs of this is something known as the "older brother effect." This refers to the exponential increase in chance of giving birth to a homosexual male with each male birth preceding it. The odds of a woman giving birth to a homosexual male, with the male being the first one, are approximately 2%. This chance increases by about 33% for every male child born before. So, it'll be 2%, 2 2/3%, etc. This is actually one of the most established constants in all studies regarding the incidence of homosexuality. A similar effect can be hypothesized to occur in homosexual females. However, it has not been identified yet.

The explanation for this: simple atrophy in the woman's capabilities I'd say. Perhaps it goes up with age as well. I don't actually mean to imply that homosexuality is a terrible accident. We are all cosmological accidents anyway, so no elitist idiocy. Again, I am gay myself. However, I'd wager that the genetic explanation was devised by the gay rights movement as a means to facilitate acceptance. It kind of can be said to work with race; it is a genetic condition. There actually was a study on it conducted in the early 90s. They concluded, albeit fallaciously, that there is a gay gene. This isn't to say this rules out the possibility, though. I just don't buy it. It's actually sad that this must be resorted to, because people are such fucking morons. Even if somehow it is chosen it is none of your business.

Considering all this science we have here it is just so laughably absurd to claim homosexuality as a pure choice that it doesn't even register. But no! It's a fucking choice! Hooray for dogmatism!

I personally can't wait to see how the catholic church will attempt to cover its ass in future times from their blatant anti-gay sentiment. It'll be like, "oh, well we didn't oppose gay rights at all! We just thought the world wasn't ready for it yet, and it's not strategic to push it!" Fuck them.

Marilyn Manson – Antichrist Superstar Lyrics 18 years ago
LongLiveSP,

I find it interesting that you possess the audacity to insult me for my age when you happen to be a whole four years older than me. And, no, you are not in any position to make assumptions about me. You don't know anything about me. If you had read the entirety of this song's comments you would have seen that I had quite expressly denounced the views which I had posted here in the summer and fall of 2004 (read: well over a year ago). I admit that I was not informed in my views, nor was I prudent in expressing those views.

Suffice it to say that I have changed since making those posts. Do you deny that people change their stances? How may I have changed my stances? Simple; thinking. That is what I do, it is all that I do. You can't expect me be a thinker and simultaneously hold the same convictions for extended periods of time. Of course, my obstinacy to post those temporary convictions so readily does noting more than get me in trouble. Because now I'm stuck with ideals I am very much opposed to under my name with people still responding to them.

Now, I would readily appreciate it if this post ends it all and people just get back to commenting on the song. I have nothing against Marilyn Manson or his music. I am neither a fan of his or a hater of him.

That would be a subjective matter and, if you have a personal one, here is the place to express your views on it.

Perhaps the song brings back memories ot a certain person? That would qualify as a meaning. And right here would be the place to share it. Communication exists in music as well as words and anything else used to express ideas or emotions or whatever.

Bad Religion – Ten in 2010 Lyrics 19 years ago
This is straight from the new September 2005 issue of Scientific American:

"Global population projections depend on assumptions about human choices.

The medium projection of 9.1 billion people in 2050 assumes fertility will continue its downward trend

If women had, on average, just one-half child more than assumed, 2050 population would be 10.6 billion

With one-half child less per women, it would be 7.7 billion

If 2005 fertaility rates remained constant to 2050, population would reach 11.7 billion"

The Earth is assumed to have a capacity of approximately 10 billion. There is a very real possibility that this will be exceeded in the next 40 or 50 years. I'm very doubtful, personally, that fertility rates will continue to diminish. That's just more for the worse. The availability of abortion and contraceptives can have a DRASTIC impact on birth rates. The earth will NOT continue to support overpopulation. If abortion and other forms of birth control are not imposed while the fetus is not a human then they will die off slowly from famine or disease when they are humans. If your values oppose this natural form of population control then I suggest you support conventional birth control methods and what they have to offer.

IMHO, China should be a model for other countries to follow. They've been wise enough to take a stance and limit their birth rates so that they do not exceed death rates, to try to create a diminishing population ratio. Even though it is expected to rise by 6%. But just imagine what is could have been. Is this bad, hell fucking no it isn't. Even if their stance is a bit radical it`s still a step in the right direction.

Tool – Hush Lyrics 19 years ago
Awesome song, awesome bass intro. This song was indeed written as to how censorship infiltrates songs and ideas and corrupts the original concept of them. But how can you relate to that if you haven't been censored by the FCC lately? To resolve this, I'll just interpret it to fit my feelings:

Being that this song is about censorship and being told what to do, think, act, ect, it can also have parallels to a rant against anti-individuality. I'll give you an example. Since when has modern society, since the advent of Zoroastrian-based ideals, accepted homosexuality? Never. Imagine this song being sung from the perspective of a closeted homosexual. It fits doesn't it? That can work for any other example that is shunned by the Big Brothers of society. You cannot speak up you cannot be yourself, even if you're not being serious. It's very refreshing to think of it that way. The anger expressed in the song is heaved at the establishment that suppresses individuality and differing opinions.

Of course, it doesn't take very much effort to hate people so much after going through life dealing with them.

"Choices always were a problem for you.
What you need is someone strong to guide you."

Awesome lines right there. And they're so true. Most people who follow organized religion do so as to look to them as some sort of guidance, both spiritual and corporal. They need someone to tell them what is right and wrong. They need to stop being fucking sheep and think for themselves. Religion has always been hostile to freethough. Religion is a life-waster. You spend your whole fucking life trying to be impose ridiculous morality, such as no masturbation, on yourself just to try to get to heaven. And when you die and there is heaven.

Rap isn't gay, it's homophobic. That's because rap artists are considerably less intelligent than those of other genres that make actual music from actual, authentic instruments. Not only is the music fabricated, but so are the artists. If there exist rap artists that are talented they sure as hell aren't the ones constantly shoved down our fucking throats by mainstream media outlets and mainstream rap fans. I just despise fraudulence. And that is all that I see whenever I make the mistake to turn on my fucking television.

Tool – Lateralus Lyrics 19 years ago
This song has the potential of serving everyone as an inspiration to make the most of life. Lateralus and Parabol/Parabola both have this awesome potential and have helped me cope with my depression a little bit better. There is nothing better in music than songs like Lateralus that can actually change the worldview of some people for the better. I think that most people underestimate the power of music in people's lives. Those who are unfamiliar with Tool will probably have a hard time grasping such a concept.
