It's taken me ages to figure out this song, but I think I've got it.
"People try and hide the night
underneath the covers."
This is the most important line. Rebellion (Lies) is about children waking up to the deception that adults (People) dole out on a daily basis through challenging the authenticity of the "sleep is necessary" concept. Adults block both the night (violence, sex, language) and the light (romantic love) of the world from their children because they don't want them to grow up too fast. Win sings about this from the perspective of a child who has recognized this, who hates it, and is rebelling (hence the song title). The rebellion is in the form of resisting sleep.

The closest I've come to describing Sigur Ros is as if an alien civilization, far more advanced than us learned to play Earth instruments, and they landed here and decided to teach us what real music sounds like.
The first time I heard this song along with the rest of ( ), I was at college in the mountains of New Hampshire, well past midnight, with no lights on during a huge snowstorm. Holy Mother of God. This song has made me reexamine my understanding of music, all music. I don't understand how I can go back to listening to anything else after this. It puts every other song to shame. |

It's a shame this wasn't already on here, in my opinion it's their best song. It's a pretty cliched breakup song but it's got a great melody. Sort of like a watered down Konstantine. |
