No, thrash metal originated from Venom. The black metal sound was originated by Bathory and perfected by Darkthrone\Mayhem. Taken to greater heights by Immortal.
Morbid Angel is pure Floridian Death Metal, as mentioned earlier. Just because they have satanic lyrical content doesn't make them black metal. Deicide is the same case. Cradle of Filth w\ Nick Barker was Black Metal. Dusk and Her Embrace and vEMPIRE are classics of the non-Norway style. And if you tell someone who lives by the Euryonomous Doctrine that an English band originated Black Metal, they'd torture you unmercifully. Mayhem in the early days threatened to kill any non-Norweigians who played metal shows in Norway at the time. So you can see how deep the convictions run.

This killer is the best MA song ever. The chorus is so evil. This song has a double meaning. First, it shows how a life of Christianity is empty and meaningless. Second, it shows that the true "God of Emptiness" is Satan, in which if you embrace, you are empty. You don't live with the constraints of God's laws. (Be like me In emptiness, free). Vincent also goes as far as claiming, in his Devil persona, that God is envious of the empty, unrestrained life that Lucifer leads now. |
