Geto Boys – Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta Lyrics
| 19 years ago

yo ATD-I,
that "Die Motherfuckers" song is actually "Still" by the Geto Boys. I do like rap, but i gotta say, Geto Boys are one of my favorites (up there with Public Enemy, BDP, etc... legendary). the We Can't Be Stopped record is probably my favorite rap album. check out the "Mind Playin Tricks On Me Song" for some nice mental illness commentary and a great Isaac Hayes sample.
... and pretty much any song of their's that has a lot of Scarface on it... "Scarface", "Quickie", "Mind of a Lunatic" |

Big Star – Thirteen Lyrics

just a pure pop song of pure teenage love. has a very nostalgic feeland probably wouldn't sit well with many teenagers of the post-Dawson's Creek age. whatever, though. this is a timeless classic. |

wow. that's a really great interpretation. by the way, if anyone out there is reading this, might want to pick up III now, because it's out of print and getting kinda expensive. |

Leonard Cohen – First We Take Manhattan Lyrics
| 20 years ago

Though the "modern" arrangement and production of the time gives this song a cheesy veneer, it's still pretty cool. The music alone gives me visuals of Jim and William Reed riding a convertible at night, looking like Miami Vice but still retaining their Psychocandy-era haircuts. I guess the lyrics are about fascism (or so i've read somewhere). |

X – Los Angeles Lyrics

the liner notes to the re-issue say that the opening notes are like those you hear on bell chimes. pretty cool. just a recollection of the times of LA back in 1980. things being really bad. |

much more meaningful than Cameo's "Word Up"... but i'm inclined to use that phrase with this song. Orchid were amazing. |

It doesn't really matter too much what the hell Baron Montaigne is saying. He's got incredible delivery. I don't understand this song, but it's probably my favorite from In Love With Jetts. |

Spacemen 3 – Take Me To The Other Side Lyrics

in context of the rest of Perfect Prescription, this just shows the heroin starting to enter the veins. the lyrics don't reveal some of the most important parts of this song (the one minute, one chord drones that occur) |

The Replacements – Skyway Lyrics

Romance in transit, much like "Kiss Me On The Bus". Besides, hanging above the city and watching all the people below walking around doing their business, walking from points A to B, while your breath fogs up the window as you think of that one person you wish you had the courage to get to know is kind of romantic in a way. It's a beautiful song. |

The Replacements – Bastards Of Young Lyrics

That line AudiLuva mentioned... that was very much their agenda at the time. Screw up these huge shows opening up for REM by playing sloppy covers all night. But play their best and most heartfelt in front of the skinheads. |

Rilo Kiley – So Long Lyrics

I remember walking down La Jolla, CA one afternoon and going down this street. And there was a theatre called The Cove. And to the right side of it was a small restaurant called Sushi On The Rocks. But whatever, it's La Jolla where there is a cove and rocks below.
Anyway, it just sounds like one of those songs in which you have to leave something behind, including the feelings that are deeply attached to it. |

Maybe just toying around with all those writings of Jesus Saves. i don't know. WWJD? That was a good interpretation though, i gotta say. |

The Replacements – Sixteen Blue Lyrics

This is song is the quintessential 80's teenage song. It's a John Hughes film wrapped up in 4:24. The lyrics come out better on the remastered version, thus i think it is state/wait... and your age is the hardest hit. |
