| WheneverI hear this I think of my grandma who passed away on June 29, 2005. I lived right next door to her and saw her almost every day. Even after her funeral I didnt yet realize that she would never be coming back, ever. It was oly about a week ago I finally realized this. Her death makes the third one Ive experienced this year. First was my step-grandfather, who I wish I had known better. Second was one of my favorite teachers ever who taught at my school since 1971 and everyone misses him. When he says "Will it be the same when I see you in heaven?" he is asking whether he will be able to see what his son would have grown up to be like and whether he will be able to have the same experiences with him. | |

i love this song. I have a weird way of interpreting it however. I think it is about a kid being unnoticed and uncared for. Why? Ill tell you. "All around me are familiar faces Worn out places, worn out faces Bright and early for their daily races Going nowhere, going nowhere" I think this is from a kid's point of view and he is talkin about how every day he sees the same people doing the same things over and over again. "And their tears are filling up their glasses No expression, no expression Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow No tommorow, no tommorow" The kid cries all the time and has never felt happy and wants to kill himself becuse there is no tomorrow worth seeing. "And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you Cause I find it hard to take When people run in circles It's a very, very Mad World" Here, he is talking about how he just wants to die, to end it all. It also talks about how its very hard to talk about it, which it is. Everyone is doing the same things each day, and nobody notices him. "Children waiting for the day they feel good Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday Made to feel the way that every child should" He is talking about how the kids he knos and everyone around him has a happy birthday, yet he may never have had one. Every day for him has been sad. "Went to school and I was very nervous No one knew me, no one knew me Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson Look right through me, look right through me" Even at school, not even the teacher really notices him. He simply goes through life like some people do. The same routine every day, never really breaking out of it. |
